No coffee at 6/7am. Bar dead at 10.30 (weekday). No phone charging in bedroom facility - had to raid lost property. Only functional, no frills.

A lovely character hotel in central Marlborough town. Very close to local shops and amenities. We stayed here as group of eight whilst cycling the King Alfred’s Way. The hotel were very accommodating and made secure space available for bicycle storage overnight. It’s an older building with plenty of character. The food was good and staff all friendly and helpful. Special thanks to the reception staff for their support prior, during and post our stay for help with queries and making the stay very enjoyable.

Very friendly, lovely hotel, all the staff were very helpful and pleasant- especially Naomi who went out of her way to help us. Our rooms (we extended our stay so moved rooms after the first night) were both spacious, bright and clean, very comfy beds. Bathrooms on the snug side but good showers. Highly recommended

Sirloin Steak was not particularly cheap at £18 so I’d have expected a lot better quality. Very chewy with lots of gristle.. a poor quality cut of meat. Accompanying salad was okay, peppercorn sauce okay, but I probably wouldn’t come back again.

Another lovely stay in the Castle and Ball. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and if you like old world charm and a friendly pub atmosphere you won't go far wrong with the Castle and Ball. We stayed in a large family room which had two enormous, comfy beds. For me, this beats staying in a modern, soulless B & B - it has all the amenities/facilities you require with a good dose of history thrown in! I can recommend the excellent breakfast. Will be back again later in the year!

We had our first weekend away trip together here and decided to come back 15 years later. We had a lovely stay this time too. Dinner had lots of menu choice and was delicious. Service from all the team here is great, so welcoming and friendly. The bar area quiet and comfortable, completely relaxing vibe. Breakfast also great - again lots of choice. We opted for cooked breakfast and lots of coffee, before we headed off full and happy. Thank you so much!

Six of us walked in to request a table to eat, it was very busy but they found us a table and we had a most enjoyable evening. The Manager and staff were very helpful and efficient. The food was quickly served and very tasty! We can highly recommend this venue and shall return in the nea.r future

We have stayed at The Castle and Ball many times and thought it was time to write about it! We have always had extremely good and comfortable stays. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable with good quality linen and comfy pillows. The staff are extremely helpful and the feeling of a good team unit where nothing is too much trouble. In paticular we'd like to thank Clare and Naomi who work tirelessly to ensure your stay is a great and happy experience ............huge thank you to you both. Tim and Jenny.
