Wasn’t going to leave a review but after being blocked and called nasty by owners when I tried to speak to them iv decided to take further. Came here for ghost haunt experience that was amazing. However the inn was not. Welcomed by someone glued to phone didn’t even look up at me. Took to a beautiful room with 4 poster bed. No instructions on how to check out where to find anything. Bathroom had hair and exsisting shower gel in shower. We ignored this as was just a quick sleep. My partner got bruised as the mattress was too thin for the bed base which was large. Went for dinner menu said lamb got pork and lumpy mash with flat coke. Ghost haunted started and went upstairs straight away smell of cats hit everyone which was caught live on TikTok with us gagging. Went back to room after ghost haunt. No heating room was froze as also stated by other guests. The owners don’t stay on site and are slow at responding so didn’t bother calling just slept next morning woke up being sick with upset stomach had to go hospital as I’m also heavily pregnant. I got food poisoning which we explained to them and promised payment once was out of hospital which we did. As soon as they got payment and we tried to talk about room we got blocked I tried again on fb. Got called nasty and blocked. So now like hospital suggested will be taking this further as a health risk and hopefully they get inspected. Beautiful location a beautiful place shame about owners and what they bring to it.

We had planned to stay for the week but gave up by Thursday. We arrived with two dogs to a roasting hot room, no thought to place a fan in the room or even drawn the curtains to help the situation. I can forgive that lack of consideration but then we saw how absolutely filthy dirty the room was! Also the bath plug was broken and the shower constantly leaked hot water slowly steaming us all to death. It was so teaming with limescale it was hard to turn it on or off. We ate in the pub one night the food was OK but not as amazing as people say here the one saving grace was the lady on the bar with short red hair, she was lovely. I of course tried to get hold of the owner to voice our concerns but no response, seen lots or reviews calling him lazy and rude as he just decided to ignore us so I guess that's true. Ah and how could I forget some nob head setting off the fire alarms at 1:30am and the crazy amount of wasps due to the bins being right by the rooms. We got out of that hell hole early before the heatwave really set in and very glad we did i'd like a refund as it ruined our holiday but don't fancy my chances! DON'T STAY HERE OF YOU WANT A NICE TIME!!

Me, my partner and our dog stayed here in August 2022. Whilst the room is decorated nicely, the cleanliness and comfort was not up to scratch. - The headboard had thick dust on - There was a scrunched up tissue on the floor when we arrived - The shower glass was heavy with limescale/watermarks, indicating to me that it has not been properly scrubbed in a long time - Tea bags are loose in a small bowl, a jar of open, used coffee granules but no milk in the fridge. I particularly hate this, because I wonder how long these items have been out (collecting dust) and the thought of other people touching it, it’s not hygienic in my eyes. Individually wrapped items would be much more appropriate - The tray which the “tea station” sat on was also covered in crumbs and dirt/dust - The mattress was incredibly uncomfortable, this could be resolved by adding a mattress topper - The lobby door slams shut which disturbed our sleep multiple times, this can be resolved by installing soft closing hinges - The light in the hallway/lobby didn’t work making it incredibly difficult to navigate to our room upstairs in the dark - We wondered over to the pub for a drink. I ordered a coke which was flat, so disappointing - The commercial bins distract from the beautiful view of the fields, from the rooms. This can be improved by moving the bins to another location or build a bin hut, to keep them hidden Just resolving these simple touches alone would have made our stay more enjoyable, but hopefully if actioned, future customers will benefit from it. The surroundings are beautiful, it was a nice opportunity to soak up “country life” as we live in the suburbs. We drove from the inn to durdle door which was about 30 minutes. The high street is very close in the car, about 5-10 minutes with lots of dog friendly pubs, restaurants and shops.

We stayed 2 nights in May with our 2 dogs and loved it, We stayed in room 5 which which was a good size. The room was pretty basic, but had everything we needed and the bed was big and comfy. The location is in the middle of nowhere, but is a 30 second walk from a lovely pub. There are no toiletries in the room so make sure you take what you need. There was a fridge in the room and some coffee but nothing else, but we asked at the pub for some tea and milk which they happily gave us so at least we could have a cup of tea in the morning. The accommodation is room only ie. No breakfast and there’s nowhere nearby to get anything to eat, but we were aware and just drove to the coast (5 miles and 15 mins) and had breakfast on the beach. West Dorset is beautiful and there are loads of fabulous walks and coast line nearby. The pub was fab with a great selection of ale and wine as well as lovely food. We ate there both nights and would thoroughly recommend. We’d certainly come again.

My wife and I had a very nice evening meal at the Shave Cross Inn. Tom was an excellent host. The 'flight of ales' (i.e. three small glasses of different ales) was a very good idea. So good that I had to have it a number of times. The food was very good and well presented. All in all, we had a very pleasant evening.

First impressions: tatty (could do with a lick of paint and tidying up both inside and out with the 2 armchairs covered in tatty covers covering the damaged chairs), odd smell when entered (never did work out what it was) and we noticed several buckets of charcoal around the property which we are guessing were there to soak up the smell, not very clean (filthy windows). Cooked breakfast included in price (had email few days before to confirm) but due to staff shortages they could only now provide cereal with couple of bowls left in room (but only enough for one night and never did get more for the other 2 nights as there was never anyone on site in the morning to ask for more. I did take this up with the manager as a cooked breakfast was an important part of our booking as we were attending a wedding with no food until 4pm so needed a good breakfast to sustain us so had to buy additional food. When I asked if there would be a refund for the non breakfast i was told no, and take it up with *********** (which is proving impossible). There was no milk (had to ask), no toiletries (and when asked told i should bring my own), no hot water on last morning so cold shower. Never any staff there in the morning to ask for milk/cereal/hot water. I hate leaving negative reviews and will always try to find the positive which was: very large airy room, big comfortable bed, powerful shower, fridge in room, fabulous view over the countryside and the meal we had in the adjoining pub was superb with an excellent bottle of wine.

the website described the rooms as 'luxury accommodation', which could not be further from the truth. The room we stayed in was dirty, dimly lit and cold. The view out of the window was of a dustbin in a hedge. No soap to be found next to the bathroom sink and no hand towel in the bathroom. The 'shower' was a shower head attached to the bath taps with no rail to attach it to so the only option was to was to have bath. There was grout was missing from the tiles and dirt behind the sink. The TV relied on wifi, which cut out every few minutes making it impossible to watch. No was milk available to make tea or coffee. The owner was rude, unhelpful and uninterested in resolving the issues. The 'gourmet' food served at the pub was basic. The only redeeming aspect was the breakfast. The whole experience was so bad we left after one night and went home.
