We have visited the restaurant on a few occasions but never stayed, so we booked a garden suite for one night en route to Wellington. The accommodation was on the ground floor and has a private outdoor area. The bed was very comfortable albeit our room was on the edge of the square so we did hear the traffic and leaf sucker truck in the morning. The accommodation was warm and bathroom spacious. This accommodation is perfectly located to explore all that Martinborough offers.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at The Martinborough. We booked one of the garden suite rooms which was well presented and comfortable. The communal areas were nice and included library and open fire. We also enjoyed found food to be of a high standard for both breakfast and evening meals.

If your room is in the main part of the hotel there is no air conditioning, the bar across the road is noisy and the hotel next door is also noisy if there is a function on. The restaurant food is bland and overpriced, the waiters are super nice but the restaurant manager is grumpy and doesn’t acknowledge you.

We called in today, Tuesday 9 April 2024, for a bar lunch. We ordered the beer battered fish & chips, plus the Smash burger & chips. Both were well presented, good portions and delicious to the last mouthful. Washed it all down with Monteiths Cider, which went well with our meals. The staff were friendly and attentive and we loved the atmosphere of bar. Thank you, we will be back.

Great old characterful hotel. We had a garden suite which was very spacious and comfortable. We only ate breakfast there which was nice. On one occasion my husband had shakshuka which was very undercooked. The chef was very apologetic and brought another one which was lovely. The hotel is on the town square so it's not going to be silent but next door there is a brewery/bar which had live music. Unfortunately it wasn't great and it was very loud, fortunately it didn't go on until late!

What a fabulous base for visiting the wonderful Wairarapa region. We are so glad we chose to stay here. Absolutely loved the way this historic hotel has been perfectly renovated setting the scene for our week away wining, dining and exploring. We had the Riddiford Room on the corner upstairs and it was wonderful.

Only stayed the one night on our visit to NZ from the UK with our friends from Masterton. They picked a real gem with great rooms in the hotel block but with all the mid cons. We also had an evening meal in the hotel restaurant which was 5 star. Great character and a must if you are in the area

From the initial booking to check out our experience at the Martinborough Hotel was fantastic. Our room was very spacious, clean, and quiet. We used the glassware and plates when we brought wine back to our room. We also sat outside in the courtyard which was nice.
