This was my first time at Norikura. I couldn't find my way around in the guidebook, so I called several times to ask questions, but each time they were kind and polite, and I was looking forward to going there even before I went. The inn was old but clean and comfortable. However, the hallway and some parts of the room in the new building where I stayed (the toilet and entrance) were very dim, which made me feel a bit down. The comfort of the futon was the best of my three-night trip. The hot spring was also great. I happened to get a plan with a private bath, but it was very small and even the open-air bath felt claustrophobic, so I think the large bath was enough. The best thing about this inn is the food! As the reviews say, it's really delicious. It was simple but flavorful, and the breakfast was a simple dish made with plenty of wild vegetables. When I told them that the butterbur miso was very delicious, they told me that the landlady makes it by hand. I was captivated by the food and the landlady's polite hospitality.
