Esprit Libre Restaurant and Guest House Reviews

I feel the need to review this hotel because the description and photos can be quite deceiving and ultimately, you're not getting what you paid for. Although the rooms look reasonably good in the photos, they are in an urgent need of refurbishment, as you'll see from the pictures below: the curtains looked cheap, old and had holes in them; some items clearly hadn't been cleaned in months; there were cockroaches walking around at night... you get the gist. The staff, although friendly had to be constantly prompted to do things. One example is when I arrived, I still had to wait a bit until check-in time, so I left my luggage with them and went out for a walk. Upon my return, a couple of hours later, they informed me my luggage had been left just outside my door!!? As in... outdoors, in a common area. I mean, how can you be so lazy to not even bother to open the door and leave the suitcase inside the room like all hotels tend to do?!!! There's no phone in the rooms, so if you need something you'll have to bother to go all the way down to reception. There was also no soap on the sink, although there was an empty soap dish... When I mentioned this to the staff, I was told I could simply use the shower gel instead (?!). The food was just okay. The common area around the swimming pool looked sad and cheap. Although there were cameras all over the place, often no staff could be seen in the evening and it doesn't feel safe at all. I could go on and on, but for brevity sake I'll just say that this hotel's motto seems to be MINIMAL EFFORT! For the same price, you can get much better elsewhere.

Very nice little Guesthouse. close to a good beach. Roger is a very nice guy, who cares about the customers! We recommend to stay there, especially when you have a car.

Taxi service was good. Air conditioning and cleanliness okay.

We had a very fun stay at this guesthouse. Our room was nice and comfy and got cleaned every day. The breakfast tasted good and the beach is just 5 minutes away. But especially the staff was great, they helped us with every question we had, were always friendly and in a good mood and tried to make our days there special.

This was a superb two day stay. The staff were friendly and most efficient. The food was exceptional and the value of everything outstanding. I can recommend Esprit Libre without reservation.

Excellent service. No phone in the room so if you have an issue you need to go down. Breakfast was great but lunch had no taste.

The staff and the owner were very nice, helpful and friendly. When you arrived at the place, you felt very welcome.

It is a small-scale accommodation with 12 apartments. We really like that anyway, but Esprit Libre is now high on our favorites list. It is an oasis of peace within walking distance of the beach. The room had all amenities. The bar and restaurant are modest but very atmospheric. The staff and owners are pleasant hosts during your stay. Nothing is missing and everything is possible. It was such a wonderful stay there: great!

Cocoon-like on arrival, the pleasure subsided from the first night. Paying for a “luxury room” only to end up with a bed with 5 broken slats and the box spring not holding on to its support….with the added bonus of the bathroom sink…in the room. The toilets are difficult to access being in the shower room. The sound of slamming doors, dogs barking incessantly at night and the washing machine spinning at 11:45 p.m. behind the bedroom wall...! A horror when you come to rest. The positive points are the smile and kindness of the waitress, the friendliness of the waiter, the good dishes in the restaurant and the work of the maid.

Notre séjour a été vraiment esprits libres avec un accueil chaleureux de Jennie et Raja. très bon service. Chambre tres propres,les personnels tres joviale.le bar et le restaurant excellent.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à Esprit Libre. Nous avons été accueillis chaleureusement par Jennie. Le barman nous a fait d'excellent cocktails et le chef nous a régalé lors de notre dîner. La chambre était propre et la literie excellente, c est l' endroit où j' ai le mieux dormi à l île Maurice. Je recommande et je reviendrai lors d'un prochain séjour.

Superbe endroit a recommander en fonction du rapport qualité /prix. Bonne cuisine -Bon service Et surtout la gentillesse et le sourire du personnel avec une note particulière élevée pour Raja , sa bonne humeur, sa disponibilité , une belle rencontre
