My wife and I stayed at Webb's on a return trip from the Upper Peninsula in Michigan to our home in Maine. We have spent some time in the Chautauqua area over the years and picked Webb's for a one-night stay. We had played at its miniature golf course before and had shopped in the candy shop on previous trips. My wife was spending the day at nearby Lily Dale Assembly, so I drove to Mayville to check in. There was nobody at the front desk, and I had to dial for help on a nearby phone. The place was eerily quiet -- almost like a ghost town (no tumble****!). I did enjoy spending my wait for the staff to arrive by looking at the photographs of celebrities who had stayed at the resort in previous years. I had a first floor room that was clean and comfortable. We slept well, and despite the fact that Webb's is on a busy highway, were not bothered by any traffic noise. The property was within walkable distance to the local park, ice cream stand, and several other eateries located on Chautauqua Lake. We resumed our miniature golf competition with an evening round. And the front lobby has several comfortable chairs, which made for a great place to sit and read a book. What was sad, however, is that I had a sense that Webb's had seen better days. The vending machines were essentially empty, and there were very few staff members on the property. It was extremely quiet -- no complaints, mind you -- but I kept getting the impression that the place had seen better times. I would stay at Webb's again, but it is a place that has probably had its most prosperous days behind it.

First time dining here, almost the last. I have never been greeted by a hostess as unfriendly as this hostess. We almost left. Someone should teach her how to be welcoming. Luckily our server made up for the hostesses rude welcoming . My husband and I enjoyed the food for lunch, especially the clam chowder. Would eat here again

We’ve had good meals here in years past. This time was so. disappointing. The grilled cheese sandwich was burned black on one side. The beef on wick was served on a soaking wet bun. The watermelon slices were delicious, tho. The service was excellent and timely.

Disappointing, jacuzzi in room very slow fill, then did not work, dated a open window between bar Th and bed area covered by a shower curtain, no working tv. Clean but hard bed. Needs updating, nice inside pool. No breakfast. Will stay next door next time. Cheep room get what you pay for.

While the resort has a nice location, it seems like it has seen better days and needs some updates all around. Similar to previous guests, there often isn't someone at the desk and you need to call for checkin or if anything is needed. There was not housekeeping during our stay or notes about it. It felt older throughout and weird to see empty vending machines. It does have a pool but we overheard a guest asking to find the desk because the bathroom area had issues/not cleaned. The beds were rather nice in our room, better than most places but the entire bathroom had issues with toilet running, sink and bathtub leaking and the tub/shower being rusty looking near the drain because of it so apparently has been for awhile. Overall, it was not worth the price paid and was a little weaker than places you'd normally find for half the price.

Stopped at the candy shop on a bus tour. Most people on the bus seemed to want the hand dipped ice cream. Had a small assor**ent of chocolates and a gift shop area. Did have cold drinks. Would be a place to stop at prior to or just after the Institute for a snack. Nice view of the lake from where we were. Could enjoy a cone and watch the boats etc.

The hotel has growen stale . We arrived to find no personnel anywhere in the building, we had to use a curtesy phone hanging on the wall that was always busy. We had to go to the candy store next door to talk to someone so we could check in. We reserved a second floor room with balcony. We had to climb an outdoor narrow staircase with extremely worn out rug and when we got to the seond floor the door into the hotel wa wide open, no key needed to get into the entire building. The room was clean with old furnishings except for the TV. The balcony screen door was off its runners on its base, and the balcony was not cleaned. They offered food at their restaurant at very high prices. Many other local restaurants at reasonable prices. Last stayed there 20 years ago and what we encountered lead us to believe we might not stay there in the future.
