Hotel Indigo MELBOURNE ON FLINDERS by IHG

Close to Southern Cross. Booked a 28sqm king room but got the smallest one available. Didn't bother to communicate with the front desk as I was leaving early the next day. It was quite noisy facing the main road, and the room was so small it was hard to even open my suitcase.

I've always been a big fan of Indigo hotels worldwide, and this Indigo in Melbourne didn't disappoint. The room was just as artistic as pictured, and I have to commend the front desk service – it was really warm and welcoming. My favorite was Catherine, the restaurant server; she was super nice.

It's incredibly close to the central train station, the river, and the city center. The only downside is the service, which is just average. They only make the bed and don't clean anything else. Plus, no complimentary water is provided in the room. The room itself is relatively new, and the environment is decent with no strange odors. On the other hand, there's basically no view from the window, and you can see into other rooms, which means zero privacy. So, you have to keep the blackout blinds drawn even during the day. This hotel is best suited for those who come back late to sleep and head out early in the morning.

The room was just so-so. It was my first time staying at an Indigo hotel, and it left a bad impression. It's the first time I've encountered a room that doesn't provide free water. My friend's room had a non-functioning AC, and it wasn't fixed during their entire 3-day stay.

The room was a bit small; I could barely spread out my luggage. The location was quite convenient. The money swiped for check-in wasn't a pre-authorization; it was charged as a direct payment. It's been several days since I checked out, and the refund hasn't arrived yet. Staying on the first floor meant I couldn't open the curtains as it was too exposed.

Regarding facilities, this Indigo is very mediocre. No pool, small rooms, and the bathroom even had an odor despite being newly renovated; it was quite disappointing. But what really made me want to leave a bad review was that the hotel's parking was unavailable. We had to use the car park across the street, which cost 33 AUD per night. However, we noticed the car park itself only charged 23 AUD, which is just appalling. They charge hotel guests an extra 10 dollars without any prior notification. We also stayed at the Hyatt next door, only 50 meters away, and for a similar 4-star rating, that place was much more upscale. The towels and slippers at Indigo were a notch below other hotels, quite unsatisfactory. The service was virtually non-existent, and the front desk was very inefficient. I rarely leave bad reviews, but...

The hotel's location is excellent, very close to Southern Cross Station. It's about 600 meters from a large supermarket, and the Yarra River is just over a 10-minute walk away. The hotel is clean, and the service is also very good.
