Caybeach Meloneras

Very dated hotel, soul less, basic rooms and social area’s I asked to change rooms due to the terrible view of the roundabout but receptionist was unhelpful just said the hotel was full. We also had to pay to exchange pool towels which I have never stayed in any hotel and had to do this on a plus side the location is ok with a short walk to the nice shops and restaurants my advice would be to pay more and stay in a better hotel like the Costa Melonaras or the Riu Palace

Just back from our 2nd visit to the Caybeach and another fantastic stay. We went when the heatwave was on in September and had temperatures of 41 degrees, thankfully it cooled the week after back to normal high 20's. We stayed half board in a double room, as we had no need for an apartment with the kitchen area. I think most of the double rooms are upstairs, so if you have mobility issues, then be aware, as its a tight turn when you go in the bottom door to get onto the stairs. Room itself is big and bright, plenty of cupboard space and drawers and full length mirror. TV, tea and coffee facilities and a small fridge. Aircon worked fantastically well and the bed was comfy. Pillows a little too hard for our liking, but bed was comfy enough. Good sized bathroom, with shower. Balcony was a good size, with 2 reclining chairs and table. Cleaning was 5 days a week, no issues here, all housekeeping staff were pleasant and smiling. We had one issue when we were away, the hairdryer started to heat up and smell of burning and then stopped working. A quick stop at reception on our way to dinner and when we got back later that evening, it had been changed, so excellent service. There is a separate bar/restaurant which is under separate management, so if you are BB or self catering, it provides you and option to eat there. Drinks are reasonably priced. The hotel restaurant is nice and airy and had an outside terrace where you can sit and eat breakfast and dinner. I don't know the numbers of guests, but it would appear that a lot of guests are either self catering or B&B only, so the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner is never busy, so you don't feel rushed or as if you are in someones way when getting your food. The food itself was all good. Yes less choice than a 4 star or a bigger/busier hotel, but what they have was always tasty, warm to hot and enough choice to have something different every night. And it all seemed to be a good quality of produce they used. There was only 1 item during our stay which was poor, and that was the fried rice one night, it was the most over cooked and stodgey rice we have ever had. Every other night the rice was cooked perfectly, just that one night. The restaurant staff are all excellent, smiling, chatty and very attentive. We recognised 4 or 5 staff members from our previous visit 2 years ago, so it was nice to see they are still here. The restaurant manager was very nice, we chatted most nights to him and on our day of departure, he came in, saw we were leaving, thanked us, wished us a safe journey home and shook our hands. A nice touch. There is an on site supermarket which sells the essentials. Some things are pricier that the main supermarkets in town, but we found some of the Sparkling wines and beers to be cheaper here than the main supermarkets. Its not in the centre of everything, its about 15 mins walk to Playe de Meloneras, where there are a handful or shops, bars and restaurants. I recommend the

Great hotel, room was modern and clean , nice balcony. Room cleaned and towels changed each day apart from Wednesday. Food was good we went HB, we loved the Chinese night and Mexican night. Always somthing to eat and was warm. Breakfast was always good. Communal areas clean and modern nice views. 3 pools to choose from and always sunbeds avaliable Good cocktails at the bar and drinks in the restaurant. Best off all the location 10 to 15min walk to meloneras beach which was nice and quiet and good bars 20 to 30min walk to maspalomas beach el faro/ promenade area was nice. And lovely sunsets. Hotel was mix of English, German and Spanish Can walk to bus stop around 12mins away we got bus which was €1.75pp to peurto rico and anfi del mar. Easy for daytrips/go to other towns. We found staff were good and we had a great time couldn't fault Would recommend and return

Apartment excellent internally, lots of space. Tv was very hit and miss with bbc. No shade on balcony or terrace meant lunch had to be eaten indoors. Apartment we had was in centre so no. Ire and stiflingly hot on terrace and balcony. Pools good with plenty of sun beds but again a lack of parasols for shade. Pool bar nice but small menu. Restaurant basic but always plenty of meat or fish available. Breakfast was the best if pretty much the same each day. Bacon well cooked which is unusual. Evening entertainment quote amateurish but not many there so not surprising. A bit out of the way, 18 minutes to playa melonares, which was dead and derelict. 20 to maspalonas.

We are currently staying in a superior double room and are at the end of week 2 of 4. Contrary to other reviewers, we have found the Reception staff to be friendly and helpful. The pool area is great. Masses of sunbeds. We haven't tried the pool bar or restaurant as we eat either on our spacious balcony or in one of the many restaurants nearby. The room is cleaned 5 out of 7 days with fresh linen provided. We have no complaints and are enjoying our time at Caybeach.
