Agate Cove Inn

This inn was so perfect for the couple of days we spent in Mendocino. It was clean, had beautiful views, perfect landscaping, an easy checkin/out process, and was close to the small town of Mendocino without being in the heart of it all. The parking was easy and convenient to our room. Large windows made enjoying the views even easier. The breakfast was fresh daily with made to order waffles/pancakes. 5 stars for every aspect of our experience. If we ever make it back to the west coast, we will stay again.

We had a lovely time staying two nights at Agate Cove Inn for our 51st wedding anniversary. The breakfasts were great, the views spectacular, the room was spotless and lovely, the garden was beautiful, and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. We also really liked the tea room. We were a bit disappointed to find that the afternoon wine tastings weren't happening, even though it's still listed on the information sheets. We did have a few issues with the bathroom - which were partly due to our ignorance about the sink drain system. Stephanie was a wonderful host, and immediately took care of things. One suggestion - given the reported water shortages in Mendocino, installing low-flow shower heads could save water and money. As it is, there's no way to control the amount of water flow in the shower, which in part led to problems with the too-short shower curtain and some flooding onto the bathroom floor. All in all we had a great time and would definitely stay at the Inn again.

This place is a true gem!! Everything about my one night stay was perfect! Here's why: The room: I stayed in Jasper. This cottage was roomy, with fresh paint and an inviting, perfectly made bed. (My pet peeve are hotel beds that look sloppy on arrival. I'm a tough customer in this regard, rendering my "perfect" assessment particularly meaningful.) The bathroom is huge, with a separate spa tub and shower. There were plenty of linens and they were fluffy and absorbent. The cottage has a French door that opens onto a lovely lanai that overlooks the gardens with a partial sea view. Equally as important, the door is flanked by two screened windows that ACTUALLY opened to allow the coastal breezes to waft through the room while I slept. Fabulous! The breakfast: This place offers a proper breakfast that included two types of eggs, crispy bacon and chicken apple sausage, in addition to numerous "side" offerings. (My fav was the organic yogurt with house-made granola. The staff: Friendly and congenial from check-in through check out. I cannot recommend Agate Cove more highly! Go. You won't regret it!

The setting for this hotel was stunning. We stayed in the Emerald Room which was located in a small building with two units. The room was spacious with a lovely view of Agate Cove. The room was also very clean and laid out with a sitting area with a couch facing the view. Chairs and table were available on the porch in front of the unit also. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The location was just in the outskirts of the main part of town and was not accessible without driving (narrow road with no shoulders for walking), it was a short (about 0ne-half mile) drive into town where there was plenty of parking. There were numerous trails along the headlands overlooking the sea in addition to the quirky shops in town to explore.

Gorgeous grounds and views with friendly, helpful staff. Not having a shower (tub instead) surprised me, so good to ask that specific question in advance.

Everything about the room, the whole facility, the breakfast, the view, the wine tasting was all fabulous and we would highly recommend it

Lovely quiet getaway spot - straight shot into Mendocino. Nice breakfast, great cookies. Staff very helpful. Parking could be delineated better. Lots of streaming apps on TV but to use you have to have or set up an account. And remember to logout of your account before departure. Better to have a couple of channels paid for for guests to use than have to go through the complicated sign-in procedure.

This has become our favorite Inn in Mendocino. We try to stay in the Obsidian unit so we can enjoy the magnificent view of the headlands between the Monterey cypress tree and marvel at the glorious sunsets. The rooms are always immaculate and well equipped. The breakfasts are excellent and prepared by outstanding staff.
