I would not stay here again. I booked via *******, its list of facilities is woefully out of date. There is no food or drink available on site, the tea and coffee in the communal area is over the road and only available for a few hours in the morning. The property may well have been built in the late 1800s the cobwebs hanging from the ceiling help to authenticate this. The bed mattress has been upgraded since Victorian times but probably only the once. It’s a fight to sleep in the middle as the edges have no support and you roll out of the side. I booked a queen size bed but it seemed like a standard double, although I didn’t have a tape measure to check. It would have been nice to have a bedside table on both sides of the bed, we had to make do with an upturned drawer. On positive note the bathroom was nice and bright. The shower head was intended for Victorian guests as it was only 5’6” high and the hot water flow miserably poor.

Room had no heat, no down comforter like advertised, had a bad ant problem. The lady at the front desk after the first night we slept in a room no warmer then 55° asked if I wanted her to “send over maintenance or give us more bedding” obviously we wanted both, the super thin blanket couldn’t cut it in a 55°room. So we got 2 blankets, but no one ever looked at the heater. And we still froze all night. The next day, the nice lady who checked us in was at the front desk and gave us a portable heater, it didn’t work, we got a second one that ended up working and we finally go the room above 60°. The main hotel is so pretty and very warm, the garden suits are not. We booked a room with 3 beds but we’re told they only had rooms with 2 beds, we paid extra for the extra bed but we’re told the couch counted as a bed. But it had no bedding or anything either. Probably won’t stay here again unless I could guarantee it was in the main building.

The guest cottage I stayed in was rough. The property overall is not maintained well and shows its age. The room was poor quality overall, particularly the bathroom. The location is excellent and in the center of the small town. The front desk service was friendly. The room was not serviced, which I was told at check in. If you have no other option for a night or two, this will do the job. I would not stay here as a tourist, unless you have very low standards.

Great old place; so quaint and comfy. Like a good old B&B, rather than an airbnb. And the location is world class and glorious. We loved staying there!!
