I used to be so dedicated to writing reviews of the places I've stayed... both to help the traveler but also to help me recall the great (and not so great) hotels and resorts along the way. This stay had me dust off my review typewriter to document and share the gem of hotel that is the Residence Inn in Mesa (Phoenix). Our stay was centered around a couples golf get away. The hotel rooms, location and amenities were the perfect choice for this type of trip. The layout is a bit unique and made it feel like you were at a resort more so than a typical hotel. The rooms are in various blocks centered around the lobby area and pool. Our room was extremely clean, spacious (important when you are travelling with golf clubs) and I appreciated the mini kitchen area. We didnt use the cooking options but it was nice to have the kitchen area for snacks and a real fridge to story the cool beverages that were needed after a hot day of golf! The breakfast was outstanding. It is complimentary with your room and was a perfect start for our golf days. It included a number of hot (and well made) options - scrambled eggs, sausages, hashbrowns! Along with fruits, cheeses, yogurt - for sure something for everyone. The pool area was also well used by our crew after a day in the sun. It isnt giant but was perfect for a dip and relaxing in the really nice lounge chairs and sun area. Again really felt more like a resort than a hotel. Finally location - Phoenix is the land of urban sprawl for sure... but the hotel is located just off a major highway and we were able to get anywhere we wanted to go in around 20-30 minutes. Super easy and convenient. The location can not be beat if you are like us and are visiting multiple areas around Phoenix. Final thoughts: - Clean (so important to me) - Safe neighborhood that is close to shopping and restaurants - Staff were very friendly - Overall hotel was quiet - slept GREAT -10/10 would recommend a stay for for couples and families visiting the area!

I would recommend staying at this hotel. I didn't give it 5 star rating only cause of a few small things and I am a tough rater, but it was nothing that would deter me from staying there again. I was looking for a place that would be close by my sister's new house and this was only several mins away by freeways and didn't charge for parking. It had several good restaurants close by if you didn't want to cook in the room. It has been recently renovated and the rooms were really nice. My only issue in the room was that the toilet kept running throughout the night off and on and adjusting the toilet handle didn't really work. I didn't notice it till I had shut off the TV and was about to go to bed. The saving grace for not having to deal with maintenance at 11 pm at night was that the bathroom fan was a low hum and I turned it on to drown out when the toilet would fill for a quick several seconds. The room was spacious and I loved that the TV was a nice decent size when viewing from the bed. I didn't have a chance to sit on the couch, but it seemed like a decent size TV from the couch and the couch was brand new and was comfortable, but firm. The only other slightly annoying thing was that the TV remote wasn't easy to push the buttons to flip the channels or adjust the menu. The menu was a good selection for breakfast. My only suggestion is in regards to they have only one waffle maker to make your own waffles. I did like that they gave you premade waffle batch cups to use and they did make really tasty waffles. I stayed at Towne Place Suites this last summer and I loved what they did with their waffles. They had premade Belgian sugar pearl waffles that had come in packages (saw an attendant put them out) and put them in a warmer so there was never really a line to wait for making waffles and the waffles were DELICIOUS. For breakfast, they had a lot of stuff to chose from. They had a cold buffet to chose watermelon, grapes and strawberries, different cheeses and then yogurt, toppings. They had bagels, english muffin, bread, muffins & then they also had oatmeal, bacon, scrambled eggs, egg patties to make egg sandwiches. For the waffle toppings, they had caramel, raspberries, whipped cream and cocoa powder. There are a lot of tables and places to eat and if it is nice out, is right next to the patio with also a good amount of outdoor seating. There is also a grill for guests to use in the patio/pool area. Overall, I liked the location being right off the freeway and that the rooms were not that far off the elevators and don't have to walk down long hallways. The newly decorated rooms and facility were very nice and I have a feeling I will stay at this hotel if we need to stay near my sister's house if there are too many of us there.

Didn’t know it was under construction Currently under construction, safety door didn’t lock, old furniture, needs new pillows, thermostat is confusing, only had two spoons in drawer, & tub faucet leaked all night. Front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating.

I arrived late to check in with my boyfriend to a room with a singkle king bed. It was very apparant that the late night clerk did not think it was appropriate for two men to be sharing one bed as he repeatedly implied that something was improper and expressed his diaapproval.

This hotel is a total dumpster fire. Smoking is not allowed yet the entire building we stayed was an ash tray! It’s filthy and disgusting, the bath tub finally drained after 9 hours, there was a dirty diaper on the floor in the hallway for nearly 12 hours. Staff is incompetent. Stay away, do not book. Oh I forgot to mention a guest decided to leave his door open to display the bird cages and hamsters, and the smell of filthy animal cages! Nothing was done by staff for the smoker or the bird guy! Do not stay here unless you don’t mind straight filth, terrible staff, nasty breakfast, and cigarette smell!

I’m only giving a 3 star because the staff is nice and our room had a great layout. Hotel musty and totally run down, gym extremely pathetic and unkept, 1 of 2 washers on site broken, phone doesn’t work in room, and so on. Would be fine if priced at $150/nt but cost twice that, also not in the greatest location. Good reminder why Hyatt and Hilton are my go to brands, at least they price their outdated properties more appropriately.
