We returned here following our Autumn visit in 2023. This time we brought my sister and husband with us, to experience your hospitality, as we had enjoyed our first visit so much. My sister's classic room was delightful, with a sea view. We paid extra for a superior room, which was spacious, but also had a damp smell in the room, so we ended up with a scented air freshener plus a dehumidifier installed to try and resolve the problem. Not ideal! We weren't offered any recompense for this problem, although the receptionist apologised profusely. The staff were lovely and very helpful. With regards to the food, breakfast was good, especially the outstanding kippers, but we were somewhat disappointed with the main course of the evening meal. The soup starters and puddings were very good, but two out of four of the main courses were rather disappointing. The chicken and duchesse potatoes were in very small quantities, overwhelmed by a vast bed of savoy cabbage, tough and bitter. The pork fillet was sadly lacking in taste and the spring greens tough and not particularly pleasant tasting. On balance, the other two mains of halibut were very nice indeed. We decided not to have drinks with our meal, as having had a very moderate round earlier on, we felt the pricing was excessive. You cannot be beaten for location and the staff were outstanding, completely customer focused. May be suggest you supply some ground coffee bags in the rooms, as opposed to Nescafe sachets, which are outdated and unpopular. We are keen to consider a future visit, but await your response to our comments. We have tried to give a balanced view. Regards Margaret and Jeff Austen
