Strange place to review. Great location just by the cathedral. Lovely roof-top bar. But the rooms all face in over a restaurant/shopping area which is noisy during the day. No natural light. Rooms are very imaginative - bed very comfortable. We had room x01 which was plagued by rooftop central air-con hum all day and night so beware that. Clearly a very fashionable and well-located place. You decide if it's good value for the high cost.
Response from Property: Dear Briquenay, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us following your recent stay. We're pleased to hear that you found our location near the cathedral convenient and enjoyed our lovely rooftop bar. It's great to know that you found the rooms imaginative and the bed comfortable despite the noise from the restaurant/shopping area during the day. We apologize for the noise from the downstairs restaurant's extraction system during your stay . As for the value for cost, we understand this is subjective and appreciate your perspective. We strive to offer a unique experience. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Warm regards,

We worked for months with the hotel to plan a wedding-related welcome cocktail party. During the planning period, our hotel representative separated from employment (we do not know the reason) and failed to hand-off our event. We finally made contact with a new event representative after an extended period of trying. She was not aware of the promises made by the prior staff person and many details of the event had to be re-planned. Two weeks before the event, the representative wrote to us and "offered" to move our event to another, related hotel (or to another date entirely, which made no sense at all). She realized that a protest was scheduled for the date of our event and said that the surrounding area would be too congested and "a little dangerous." When we learned that the protest happens on the same date annually, we registered our disappointment--why would the hotel book our event on that date, accepted our deposit, and tell us only two weeks before that our event could not happen as scheduled? After this, the representative told us that we misunderstood--that we could in fact have our event as planned, even though she had previously told us that the area would be "a little dangerous." We ultimately did the only thing we thought was reasonable and moved the event to the related hotel in Condesa. No concession was offered for the problems we had with our planning, and the hotel representative made it seem as if she was doing us a favor in moving our event. We gave the hotel several chances to make things right with us, and our wedding planner got involved and did the same. After the event, we gave specific, detailed feedback and were told only that the hotel would closely consider it. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this hotel for any event-related purpose.

Beautiful hotel. Looks just like the photos. But this is a hotel that is made for looking and not living. As others have commented, the rooms are beautiful and minimal and incredibly uncomfortable. We’re staying in a balcony suite (this will be our third of three nights), and the room is large, but the only places to sit, other than the bed, are wooden chairs. No cushions for you, my friends! No ottomans, no sofas, you can sit on a wooden chair or the bed. The floors are marble, and the bed is on a large (also marble) platform in the middle of the room. Who puts a bed on a marble platform in a marble room?? How has this not led to complete calamity (not to mention a significant lawsuit)? Oh, and no headboard on the bed. There will be no lounging in bed! Breakfast is tasty, but this morning it took over an hour to be served. Yesterday was at least 40 minutes. The wait staff are lovely, and one was actually sprinting to get us food and drinks, but it seems like the layout for breakfast service is just not conducive to timely…service of breakfast. So it’s slow, literally, *by design*. Again, this is a management issue, not a staff issue. At the end of my stay, I find myself actually resenting the hotel owners (who I have never met), because I am so aggravated that they designed such an uncomfortable experience! One more - we arrived around 10pm, hungry. Everything was closed. The front desk was unhelpful but, again, this is a management issue. Have a list of late night options, or have a snack waiting! Finally, I picked this hotel based in part on TA reviews, but also the fact that management responds to the negative reviews. I always think that’s a good sign. But reviewers have been raising these same issues for nearly two years now, and they haven’t been addressed. Three stars because it really is beautiful. We are on the roof deck now and it is lovely. Plus the food is good and the restaurant staff are very sweet.

Where do I begin? Yes, you should book this hotel. The staff are so nice and sweet. There are always pros & cons with any hotel you stay at in the world. The pros here outweigh the cons. Pros: Central location and very convenient to experience the museums and cathedrals as it's right across the street from it. Free breakfast upstairs was a plus, however, the menu should be updated or have better add-ons for a-la carte. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were so clean, romantic, unique, and peaceful. A great hotel to have peace of mind. Security is top-notch and always attentive. The restaurants and boutiques attached to the hotel are a plus and the restaurant is A MUST. It was delicious. The rooftop, jacuzzi, reading room, fireplace AND Sauna was a gem. The bar was cute and the pool was only accessible for one day of my trip but it's there and a great add-on. Cons: Ubers would not stop on the street at times as it is a one-way road and sometimes blocked off during the weekends as it's a tourist neighborhood. That was annoying, I will say the trick was to tell Uber that you only need "drop-off" and it works (sometimes). Imagine being a woman wearing heels and having to walk down the street to your hotel, it's annoying. Water in the room should be a standard for this hotel, having to ask for water and then being given water not in a bottle just feels unsafe and risky business. The hotel should partner with a company to provide water for the guests, especially at the daily rate it charges. The walls can be very thin depending on which room you are in. I was in a Balcony suite and could hear the conversations from the neighbor downstairs. I think that can be fixed and should. No heat - but it's Mexico you barely need it. I would just turn off the AC and be fine. Beds and comforter is so relaxing Very minor Cons. Overall a great hotel, a great experience, unique and romantic and peaceful place to stay. I would visit and stay here again.

PROS - I was able to book my stay with a Bonvoy Free Night certificate + 10k points - Excellent location in the heart of the Centro Historico - Oscar, the bellman, intercepted me from down the street. He's great! Helpful, friendly, and competent - Architecturally interesting interior - Minimalist style in the sleeping room was clean, and a refreshing change from other hotels. High ceilings - Clean room - My room was extremely quiet in the evening (I heard nothing from the restaurant downstairs or the street, despite being located on floor 1, facing out) - Nice view of the cathedral from 108! - Ridiculously comfortable bed - Upscale toiletries - Complimentary breakfast (unfortunately I checked out too early to partake of it) - Hot water in shower; strong pressure CONS - Beware the step up to the bathroom, and the platform beneath the bed, or your twist and ankle/stub a toe - Some front desk attendants less helpful than others - If you want complimentary water, you have to bring the empty carafe to the front desk and have it filled - Bathroom lacking in counter space, hooks, and towel bars - No heat I'm hitting myself for forgetting to check out the rooftop deck...

This was my second time staying here and it was just as good as the first. What strikes me most about Circulo is the cleanliness and attention to detail regarding how clean and well kept the entire property is. The employees tirelessly clean the place daily and it shows. The amazing view on the roof combined with the refreshing pool and unique spot for daily free breakfast is not to be missed. There's a fantastic sauna too. Service is always quick and friendly as well...special shout out to Karen and Axel for their friendliness and professionalism. There is some weird energy and smirking looks from other rooftop employees but not Karen and Axel... Circulo Mexico, keep up the great work! If and when I return to CDMX CM is always at top of my list for lodging.

I am staying at Circulo Mexicano right now on a girls’ trip to Mexico City. The location is perfect. Situated right across the street from the Metropolitan Cathedral. The hotel is tucked away on a small side street that is very quiet and we have not been troubled by the sounds of traffic, raucous tourists and other types of noise pollution that disturbed my sleep when l stayed in a different part of the Centro Historico last year. We have enjoyed our rooms which are very clean and I very much like and admire the minimalist style of the rooms and hotel. The beds are very comfortable. We were upgraded upon check in to a room with a small patio that is very charming. The hotel rooftop is amazing with a stunning view. Honestly we wish we had more time to relax here especially to watch the sunset but our activities have kept us in other parts of the city at night. There were some small hiccups during our stay. Bizarrely, we discovered that our pillows did not have pillow cases on them during our first night. The staff was quick to address any concerns that we had. Everyone has been very friendly. I would like to specifically mention the manager, Pedro, who was very attentive and kind. Also before I forget, the shower products are terrific and made from honey which I love.

Círculo Mexicano is an excellent Hotel choice for a short stay in Mexico City. 🇲🇽 It is a 19th-century building in the Centro Histórico updated by architects Ambrosi Etchegaray to be a boutique hotel with only 25 very minimalistic rooms, a small pool area and a rooftop terrace There are other services too, like restaurants and even a barber shop, but we didn’t try those this time. They seemed cool though (— and expensive compared to what you can find outside the hotel area, but that’s how it goes). The breakfast at the rooftop patio was great, even though the service level there was quite inconsistent and not in line with the overall experience and price. Part of Marriott Bonvoy, which is always good news. Even with the smaller flaws in the service at the rooftop level, I would definitely stay here again.

Ruined my wedding morning. HORRIBLE experience… I had booked specifically the suite with a living room to get ready with my friends and family, the extra table for food, the separate living room and bathroom for all the caos 6 MONTHS in advance for my wedding getting ready and to my surprise the morning of , they told us that they gave our suite to another person. The room they gave us had no extra tables, nothing. My friends and I had to sit on the room floor to get ready. Do yourself a favor and consider another place to stay.

We loved our stay at Circulo Mexicano. We were supposed to stay at their sister hotel (Downtown Hotel) and were moved because of an event. I am so glad we were!! We didn’t want to leave Circulo Mexicano. The hotel was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated with a simplistic style. We stayed in a Junior Suite which had plenty of room. The aircon was really effective and you could adapt the temperature. Wi-Fi signal really strong & reliable, there were speakers in the room that you could use with bluetooth. There was also a safety deposit box and fridge with minibar. The toiletries provided by the hotel were a great size and so lovely made with honey. Our favourite thing about our stay here was the breakfast! Served on the rooftop you could order coffee/tea and freshly squeezed fruit juice. You could also order fruit which came with yoghurt and granola, followed by eggs in many different ways (we would definitely recommend the huevos rancheros!) and finally freshly cooked pastries! On our last day we had to leave at 7am to catch a bus and it was a shame the hotel reception would not permit us to take two pastries with us instead of staying for breakfast, this was a little bit disappointing upon leaving and might be something to consider in future. The rooftop area is incredible! There is a small pool (a good size for city centre hotels) and a hot tub. They also have a comfortable seating area and bar with table service. The drinks prices were reasonable with the rest of the city. The hotel is in a central location but without any noise disturbance and just a short walk from the zocalo metro station, right next to Templo Mayor and the Cathedral. It is worth noting that taxis and Ubers can’t pull up right outside but you can walk 300m to the end of the road and they can collect you there, so this wasn’t a problem. Overall, we had an amazing time here and would 100% recommend this to other people.
Response from Property: Thank you for this positive comment! We are happy to see that you had such a good time with us and hope to see you again soon in a near future! Wish you all the best! Circulo Mexicano

The hotel is fantastic in many ways. Absolutely stunning (modern, clean decor), friendly staff, beautiful roof. The only reason it did not receive 5 stars from me is that it was not always easy to access via car. Due to it's location in the historic center, roads are often blocked/closed/rerouted...and we had to walk 25 minutes with our suitcases to check-in. Not ideal. Thereafter, we kept running into the same issue (walk 5 blocks to get an Uber, etc...). Not a massive deal unless you are traveling with people (older parents, etc...) that might have mobility issues. Regardless, loved everything about this hotel. Just wish it wasn't so hard to access.

Círculo Mexicano is a wonderful and fantastic place to stay in the historical center of Mexico City. The opportunity to walk around anywhere within 20 to 30 minutes brings you to so many fantastic restaurants, bars, and hidden little gems. It is a unique place, a boutique hotel with around 20 rooms so you don’t feel crowded, at least when I was there. I loved the rooftop pool, the sauna in the morning to use, and the bonus free shots of tequila upon arrival are pretty sweet! Daily free breakfast to me the order was delicious, as well as the coffee. I’m pretty sure coffee everywhere in Mexico is delicious as I travel here often. Special shout out to some of the amazing stuff upstairs including Mauro, Angel, Kevin, Francisco, and the office staff were friendly and professional as well… The views from the rooftop were pretty incredible. Don’t hesitate to book this place, when I return to CDMX I will strongly consider returning to this hotel

Incredibly disappointed in the hotel staff. My AirPods were stolen from my room, and when I told the reception staff, they were unhelpful. Was told the manager was going to reach out, and they never did. I sent them an email to follow up...no response. Shocked that such a nice hotel would tolerate such a thing and not do anything about it.
Response from Property: Dear Maras, We have carried out our investigations and followed all the protocols to be able to ascertain and affirm that indeed someone from our staff took the AirPods from your room, but unfortunately we do not have sufficient grounds to be able to guarantee it. All of our rooms have security procedures and hotel policies in place. The emphasis is on putting all valuables in the safe and declaring valuables to avoid this type of problem. Kind regards

a few points about the negative comments: - Don't stay here if you don't like minimalist, clean design. High taste level, amazing aesthetics, etc. That might mean you don't have tons of closet space, etc. . If you want that, stay at a Best Western. -It's in the Center District. The views of the church are amazing, and is (obviously) centrally located. As a first time visitor to Mexico City, it was a good start. But you need to take cabs/ubers to get to some of the more of the "in-crowd" areas (Roman, Polanco). Lots of traffic, but not a big deal. -If you walked with your bags for 20 minutes to get to the hotel, you took the wrong cab driver. The hotel had a cab pick us up in front of the hotel to go to the airport, and our cab driver dropped us off a 5 minute walk away. It means that it is on a quiet, exclusive calle. -The restaurants at the hotel (for dinners, and for casual breakfast, lunch) are amazing. Owners of Contramar, one of the best restaurants in the city. -We stayed in the top category room which was palacial, unique, retained the original strucutres, elements of the building. It was gorgeous. A little more money but highly worth it. All of the spaces look out into the central atrium, but just close the blinds. I loved the natural light- -The pool upstairs is a plus. Good food, great ambience, great service. View of the church is spectacular I will stay in a different neighborhood next time, but I highly recommend this hotel, especially for first time visitors.

Pros: This hotel is stunning, beautiful design, minimalist rooms in a great location for first time visitors to Mexico City. Despite some of the other reviews regarding Uber access, we had no trouble getting ubers, although you do need to walk a short block, but it did not impact us. You are in the heart of Centro as well so no shortage of things to see. We were kindly upgraded to a lovely suite and had no issues with noise until our last few days when the room above us (who had a bathroom window face our inner courtyard) arrived, but we were able to close doors and were not impacted. I would recommend one of the suites as I think the other rooms might have noise issues. The breakfast staff were especially lovely and breakfast on the stunning rooftop was a really nice extra. We felt very safe and the main floor has some lovely shops and restaurants. Cons: As noted this is a minimalist hotel, so maybe better for shorter stays. We were there over a week and the lack of comfortable/ suitable seating, drawers, bathroom counter space, poor lighting did take away from the design after a few days. I found my interactions with staff pleasant, but not overly helpful or forthcoming with assistance, as I might expect at this price/ rating. We ended up arranging a lot of our own trips and activities/restaurants. I think I would have liked a bit more hospitality, but they also did seem busy at times, and I read reviews noting incredible hospitality, so we might have just had an off week. The rooftop pool seems to cater to non hotel guests, there are no loungers and only a few tables/chairs in the bar. I tried a number of days to find a spot without luck, I did speak to front desk, who kindly offered to reserve me a spot with advanced notice, but as a paying hotel guest, I feel as though that shouldn’t be required. If a pool is really a requirement for you, I would probably suggest another hotel. Overall I think this is a beautiful hotel in a great location, especially for new visitors to Mexico City. The hotel is very Instagram friendly😄 but there were a few drawbacks, none of which really detracted from our stay, and we would return.
