Onsen Papawaqa

The road to the hotel is wide and easy to drive on. The 'Cloud Viewing Room' is spacious with a great view, and the hot spring tub can comfortably fit two adults. The water from the showerhead felt silky, leaving my skin smooth and delicate after washing (though the water pressure was a bit low). The shampoo and conditioner were also excellent, making my hair soft and smooth. Water dispensers are available throughout the hotel, providing sparkling water, ice, and hot/cold water 24/7, which is very convenient. There are multiple hot spring pools, a spa, a steam room, and a massive swimming pool. If you get tired, hot and cold drinks are also provided. The air is fresh and the surroundings are beautiful. Overall, it's a high-quality trip perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle and relaxing both body and mind.

The facilities and environment were clean, but it was clear that the amenities were old and not well-maintained, with paint peeling and cracks.

Beyond the pool and hot spring facilities, there aren't many other recreational amenities. The breakfast and dinner buffets were decent. The room layout wasn't very practical; the TV and bed were at a 90-degree angle. Also, the bathroom door couldn't close completely when showering, leaving a gap.

I really loved the room with a view of the water. It had both hot and cold spring-fed pools, and a waterfall right outside – super relaxing! The staff were all very friendly, and the food was good too. I didn't get a chance to use the outdoor pool this time, but I'd definitely like to try it next time.

The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices, and the ingredients were fresh and delicious. However, since we checked in quite late, there weren't many dinner options available, and the indoor slippers provided were too small.

The in-room facilities are good, and the hot spring water is smooth and soothing. There are free charging facilities available. However, the restaurant lacks accessibility for the elderly or those with mobility issues due to the steps, which is something to consider.

The outdoor hot spring is huge with a great variety of temperatures – absolutely fantastic! The breakfast spread is excellent, and the abalone congee is delicious! Plus, there's a 7-Eleven nearby, which is super convenient!
