Perfectly located in the heart of the Danube Delta, Mila 23 is a picturesque fishing village offering a good base to take a boat trip to nearby water channels and visit the main attractions or go fishing. Situated less than 50 km east of Tulcea and 20 km west of the edge of the Black Sea, Mila 23 can be reached exclusively by boat from Tulcea, in one hour by private boats. Delta Travel’s owner is advising you the pick-up location in Tulcea harbor, the name of the skipper, programme of the boats and what long-time car parking to use at reasonable prices. The property Delta Travel is located in the middle of Mila 23 village, 200 m of a supermarket, has its own pontoon, a large garden full of flowers, 2 terraces, a barbecue and good wi-fi throughout the property. The rooms are decorated with taste, all have a balcony and are clean and spacious (with enough space for the luggage), have air conditioning and cable TV, private large bathrooms with a shower, comfortable beds. Good place if you are travelling alone, but also for families. One of the house’s rules says that you are free to take from the fridges what you need (water, soda, juices, beers, wines) and you simply write it on a piece of paper with your room number; payment at check out. The food is prepared every day, not repetitive, mostly based on fish and more like all-you-can-eat type. The fish soup is a local specialty and tastes delicious; all the meals are extremely tasty and at a decent price. If you don’t like fish or you are a vegan there are other options provided that you inform the cook in advance. The staff is welcoming, friendly and helpful, dedicated to meet the guests’ wishes. Mr Radu, the owner, is very open and friendly, speaks good English, is experienced with groups and has a great sense of humor. He is an encyclopedia of knowledge about history, biology, geography, natural sciences, maths, politics, offering detailed information about the fauna, flora and local customs, information about the history and geography of Danube Delta. He knows all the birds’ species and their nesting places and tells you stories about the incredible wildlife in the Delta and the fisherman's life. Mr Radu owns several fast boats equipped with life jackets for everyone and organizes for his guests trips on the large and small Danube channels, reaching all major must-see objectives including bird watching or fishing, showing you hidden beauties of the Delta: surrounding lakes full of white and yellow waterlilies, Caraorman, Letea forest with its wild horses, old Sulina port and the amazing place where the Danube meets the Black Sea. The landscape is spectacular and unique and we enjoyed every moment spent here. We had a wonderful Delta experience exceeding all expectations, with unforgettable memories. Therefore I strongly recommend Delta Travel for hospitality, quality of service and value for money.
