Homewood Suites By Hilton Milwaukee Downtown

My husband and I travel to Milwaukee each year for his birthday. We chose this hotel for its location in proximity to our dinner reservation and the attractions we had planned. There were several negative reviews for this hotel regarding check in, cleanliness, and parking, I'd like to share my feedback to ensure travelers do not deter from staying at this hotel for those reasons. Upon arrival we were promptly greeted by a friendly front desk staff and were able to check in promptly at 4pm. We were able to conveniently park in their side lot while we brought our belongings up to our room. The room was extremely spacious and had beautiful upgrades and convenient amenities such as a full kitchen. The high ceilings really made this room unique. Everything in the room was very clean. There is a parking garage directly across from the hotel which was easy to access and only cost $22.00 a night to park. When staying in downtown MKE it is to be expected that you will pay for parking, and knowing our car was in a covered garage was peace of mind. We choose to Uber to our destinations, so we didn't have to find parking multiple times, and we never had to wait more than a few minutes for our ride to arrive. My only disappointment was there was no happy hour. I was under the impression there was a cocktail hour offered, but it didn't take away from our stay, as there were several liquor stores within walking distance to grab a drink for the room while we got ready. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful with options, fresh, hot, and the egg bites were delicious. The last thing I will add which is huge for me, they have complimentary water, hot water for tea, and coffee in the lobby at all times. I hate forgetting to bring a water bottle for the middle of the night when staying at a hotel, so I loved this feature. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again in the future! Don't let the negative reviews sway your decision. This was a beautiful, newly converted hotel that you should absolutely check out next time you are staying in the area.

Although our room was large, clean, and comfortable with even a ceiling fan, there were some oddities. First, in the rather large kitchenette area, there was a tea-making machine and no coffee maker, an amenity we have enjoyed in other Hilton properties, and which is very important to us. To access the coffee in the lobby requires getting dressed earlier than necessary. Secondly, the light fixtures on either side of the bed are mounted on the wall, with the switches out of reach from the bed—surely a design flaw. The condition and location of this hotel were most satisfactory. Since it was our first Homewood Suites, I’ll be checking on future bookings to confirm that there’s a coffee maker in the rooms.

All staff were very nice, the property was very clean, breakfast was good, loved the location and price! It worked perfect for us staying one night and attending a Bucks game. You do have to pay $20 for parking across the street - which many of the hotels in the area have that as well. A good experience and I would go back.

Overall, we liked this hotel stay. Great service from the staff. We chose a corner room for the view. Knowing this hotel was by the freeway, we knew it might be a view of the freeway and it was. The windows are large and beautiful and would have been so much more impressive if they had been washed. They were so dirty it was hard to see out of them. The main surfaces of the room were clean and the bedding was fresh, but there are large window sill that were dusty and the bathroom floor was not clean. The room is well decorated and the features are so beautiful, but the "wow' factor lost points with those housekeeping and maintenance issues.

Check in was terrible. A lobby full of people and nobody at the desk. And when they did come out they ignored everyone and were fighting with each other. It made us late to our show. It did seem as though they were trying but it was all around just unprofessional. The property and room was beautiful though and clean and comfortable. We would stay again if we knew that the service wouldn’t be as bad as it was.

The staff was always helpful and welcoming. The rooms were clean. The breakfast was great.

The staff at this hotel are wonderful and made me feel welcome and well taken care of! I drove in from out-of-state and called around to different hotels inquiring about electric car charging and parking availability. The gentleman who answered my call a month prior (and also checked me in day-of) was Angel. I'd like to stress: Angel was the reason I ultimately chose this hotel, and I am so glad I did. He is so professional, genuine, and helpful. I would also like to give a shout-out to the older gentleman working the breakfast area. He was great to talk to! Very welcoming and on top of everything. All other interactions I had with staff were fantastic as well. The room was very clean and modern. When I come back for the conference again next year, I am certain I will return to this hotel because of the high-caliber staff it employs. Thank you for the great stay!
