I recently stayed at the Pfister for the Brew City Marathon with family. Overall it was a positive experience, with a few distractions. We stayed in a 2 room suite, with a sitting room and a bedroom with an en suite bathroom. Staff: The staff at the hotel are wonderful, very accommodating and customer service oriented. They did their best for us during our stay. Hotel: The hotel is going through a period of refurbishment. Our room had been refurbished. I really liked how they kept some of the old design elements, doorknobs, desk, and other hardware. Some of the new elements (curtains, carpet) are definitely in keeping with the belle epoque atmosphere of the hotel. Other design elements were a little dissonant, such as the modern cast iron lamps. (Management might want to inspect the refurbished rooms, as the bar in the sitting room floor moulding trim is missing.) My biggest disappointment was not being able to view the beautiful lobby, as scaffolding had just been erected for upcoming maintenance. (I realize this is a temporary necessity.) Noise level: (Realize there's not much the hotel can do about this.) We were directly under one of the ballrooms where a wedding reception was being held. During our last stay at the Pfister, we were above a ballroom, and really enjoyed the music wafting up. Not this time! Conga drums and a bad band don't make for pleasant sleep. Also, an inexperienced piano player was practicing on the baby grand piano around the corner from our room. We really prefer staying in the old part of the hotel, but next time we'll request rooms away from the ball rooms. We did receive ear plugs promptly when we requested them. We also were promptly provided an HDMI cable to hookup a computer to the TV when requested.
