We spent two nights at Casa Colonial and we had the family room on the 1st floor, which was a suite with a bedroom facing the street, a bedroom facing the courtyard and a large bathroom. It was great, a little hot but the double exposure and the ceiling fans help cool down. Beautiful roof terrace ideal for an aperitif and a pretty interior courtyard with a small swimming pool. This is also where we have breakfast on communal tables. The courtyard, on the other hand, is a sounding board so if some customers decide to end the evening in the swimming pool, well, no one sleeps... so I imagine that the rooms on the courtyard only, not necessarily very pleasant if people don't respect others. And I think that the room on the ground floor next to the entrance must be quite painful… Otherwise, a top location close to the historic center of Mindelo.

Small pension very well located in the heart of Mindelo in a quiet street. The rooms are not very large but comfortable. A downside, they overlook a central staircase and the front door being glass, we had to get up several times during the night to turn off the light each time someone came in. If there are people there, the chances are high that people will leave early to take the 8 a.m. boat to Santo Antao, hence a little noise. Good breakfast taken by the very small swimming pool and free punch at aperitif time.

Small hotel with a nice colonial ambiance. Location is perfect nearby restaurants and the city centre. Breakfast is oké and served at the cosy inside pool yard. Lots of plants, the small pool itself had better days. When we stayed here there weren't much other guests. But I think it will be quite noisy because it is not possible to walk quietly on the old, creaking wooden floors and stairs. Room has enough space, no airco but a fan. Room is a bit dark because of the shutters. Bathroom and the door to go inside is really tiny, good that they try to safe water. There is no safe and hair dryer. Lightning is low and not good for reading. Bed is too hard for our liking. Outside our room we had a kind of living room where you could sit. At night there is a lot of noise from dogs in the neighbourhood. Laginha beach is at about 20 minutes walking distance.

This review is based on 1 night in the triple room on the ground floor. Given the other rather good reviews, I imagine that the other rooms are different...but our experience was bad. The only positive point, the staff were accommodating and seemed apologetic. This message is especially aimed at the owner who should seriously consider rethinking this room. The room is located directly at the hotel entrance, so we will hear residents entering/exiting all evening/night. The room is not air conditioned which is not possible with the heat (1 fan only which does not do the job). This requires us to leave the windows open (so we will remain in darkness throughout our stay) with the shutters closed. Motorcycles accelerating, cars/4x4s/mini buses parking, coming back, leaving... groups of people who seem agitated and who make it known loudly... and when late at night, the alley seems to empty... the dogs from the neighborhood take over… all right under our windows. Beyond the noise and the heat, it is impossible to have total darkness in the room. It was a nigh**arish night, the worst hotel night for me and yet I have traveled. For the rest, the bathroom is not functional (cast entirely in concrete) and is tiny. The swimming pool is absent, it is a pool 1m50 deep and 2m long. The breakfast is not at the level of other residences visited in Saõ Vicente or Santo Antao. My sister will be followed early in the morning when she goes out to run an errand. We decide to cancel our 2nd night planned here. For this last evening in Cape Verde we want to stay with a beautiful impression, the one that was ours during our 15 days of travel in these magnificent islands. We very quickly found a hotel 30% cheaper just a stone's throw away and which offered all the expected comfort. If you decide to stay at Casa Colonial… choose your room wisely.

Small tastefully renovated B&B in an old colonial building. Rooms are located around the courtyard. Nice roof terrace, which unfortunately is not equipped with proper seating. Small pool in the courtyard. Everything is very comfortable here. Staff very nice. Breakfast plentiful and lovingly prepared. Deduction only because of the extremely small room, the lack of soundproofing and the cumbersome shower. Let it run longer until warm water comes out. Unfortunately there is also no air conditioning (at least in our room). Not far to the marina and restaurants. All in all a very charming B&B. We booked it as part of our tour with Aventura Tourismo.

Very central, five minutes to the water and important restaurants, still an oasis of peace with a small pool in the courtyard, plants everywhere, colonial with art and style inside, rooms relatively small but so beautiful. Breakfast was a dream, coffee with a French press, fresh yoghurt, homemade jam probably or local product. Gladly again.

Nous avons passé 3 nuits très agréables. Emilia et le personnel sont accueillants et aux petits soins. Le patio et la piscine sont parfaits pour se relaxer et se reposer. Les chambres sont propres et la literie au top.
