Candlewood Suites Mobile-Downtown

Good spot downtown, walking distance to a lot of bars shows and restaurants

This perfectly located hotel has you sign a separate form promising you will not smoke in their rooms. The problem with that policy is that clearly these rooms once allowed smokers. A lot of smokers. We stayed on floor one and the room, while clean and presentable, reeked of stale cigarettes. It was really bad. While we strongly support a no smoking policy, this requires that these places enforce the policy.

Stay was very comfortable and conveniently located to dining.

Everything was great! Clean and the bed was very comfortable. Shower was spacious. Staff was very friendly. No breakfast or daily cleaning but we are fine with that. They have a self-check out snack area that is convenient. Can sodas are $1 which is so good considering they are $3 elsewhere and free coffee all day -nice perks.

Apparently confirmed reservations don’t mean anything at this hotel. I reserved a room via the IHG app the day of our stay (yesterday, April 5, 2024). Gave my credit card, got a confirmation number. Even got a notice that if we no-showed our card would get charged for the night. After a 6 hour drive, we get to the hotel a bit after 8 pm. After confirming my reservation in the computer, the woman at the front desk tells me that they have no rooms. I ask how is that possible since I have a confirmed reservation. She then tells me that they’re fully booked for the night and the hotel policy is that when they’re fully booked, they’ll give any unoccupied rooms to walk ins. Which is, as she told me, what happened. That is the stupidest policy I’ve ever heard. Also, this woman gave not one iota of a care that my family and I had a confirmed reservation and now had to go find another hotel after a long day of travel. We ended up at the Holiday Inn down the street, the staff at which was very kind and were appalled at my experience at this Candlewood Suites. Go to the Holiday Inn instead.

I stayed on the second floor and could hear overhead movement a good bit of the time

Everything was nice and clean, everyone was nice as well

The property was great, but they did not have the room I requested available. Fortunately my mother had reserved a room through you as well and I could swap, in order to better accommodate my 11 year old son so both my husband and I could get sleep.

The customers in the room above ran all night long. You could hear everything step they made. I asked guest services to see if everyone was ok. Thaf made the situation worse the stomped even louder.
