This hotel is excellent. Great location, homely but stylish. Superb cosy blankets for our mid-winter stop in this high-up hotel. Great sea views and only 15 minutes from the airport and the La Peña mirador! Perfect. Thanks

No vuelvo más. Hotel a medias. No restaurante, no piscina.

Walking maps available at reception and we also used a Discovery Walking Map of el Hierro. A good two star rural hotel. Easy parking outside the hotel. Clean rooms with plenty of hot water. Best rooms have sea view and terrace. Choice of supermarkets nearby and bars offering meals. Breakfast plentiful. Also on the Villa Valleverde / la Frontera bus route, so it’s easy to get round most of the island without a car. We were asked for cash on the bus. Walking on the island very varied and generally well signposted, but a map advisable. Good walking boots and walking poles recommended, be prepared for up hill rough walks.

This Hotel did everything you could ask for from a 2 star. Our room (15) had a view with a view out to sea, over the back garden and empty swimming pool. Contrary to some comments, it was neither cold nor damp but the owners had Kindly put an oil filled radiator in the Room before we arrived. The Room was basic but had plenty of space and everything you could ask for. Wifi did work in our room , maybe because it was close to reception. Breakfast was in the Hotel itself and, although there weren't many fresh fruits, there was plenty to go at. The tortilla con patatas was especially good. Dinner was in the restaurant across the road where fish soup and Tuna were fresh and very tasty. We were on an Inntravel package and the picnic provided on our second day was first rate.

On arrival we were given a choice of rooms and we choose number 15 as it had a lovely view. The hotel is very basic but it is very clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful. We had our evening meals in the restaurant across the road from the hotel. Breakfast was served as a buffet in the hotel and offered a simple but good choice of food, cereal, toast, yogurts, meats etc. There are a couple of supermarkets within easy walking distance from the hotel and a local bar (turn right) where we enjoyed a couple of early evening beers. We did a walk to Pozo de Las Calcosas straight from the hotel (approx 6 km there and back) there is a nice view point here with a cafe (which was closed when we went). There is also a natural pool down in the holiday/summer village but the sea was very rough when we visited so it was not possible to swim here. The hotel was able to provide us with a picnic for each of the days we were there which was very nice. Valverde was a short taxi ride away.

Stayed for three nights whilst on vacation; reception was closed on arrival but they left instructions on how to find the room; the room was a good size, décor a little old fashioned but fine. The room had an effective but slightly noisy fridge. No complimentary water, but I was able to buy a bottle from the bar across the road just before they closed. The room had a great balcony with both chairs and loungers and offering great views out across the island to the sea below. The bed was a little squeaky, and there was no aircon in the room, but the height of the village and sea breeze meant it was not missed too much. WIFI was available, but only in the reception / lobby area and not in the room. Breakfast was very good with a nice range of continental options along with fresh fruit. The hotel is located centrally in the village with a couple of small supermarkets as well as some excellent walking trails nearby (I recommend the trail from San Andres thru Mocanal and on to the coast). In summery a fairly average hotel on the interesting, rugged and least touristy canary island, but given the handful of other hotel choices on El Hierro I would still recommend this hotel.
