To be fair, my family enjoyed their stay here. Our only complaint is that, unlike other lodges, their dining area did not have mosquito nets and we were eaten alive despite pouring mosquito spray and wearing long clothing. Our rooms were clean, the staff was very friendly, the views are great and the pool was really nice. The reason why I am rating this lodge with such a low rating is due to their poor treatment of our wonderful driver and guide. I will not go into details but suffice it to say that the accommodations and food provided to him by the camp management were so poor, that he had to drive out of the lodge and pay out of pocket to stay at a guest house. Additionally, we found it strange that he did not join us for dinner as he normally did in other lodges but assumed he was just tired and wanted to rest. It turns out that he was not allowed to have dinner with us as it is "frowned upon" at this camp for the drivers to join their group. Needless to say, we were horrified to learn of this substandard and inhumane treatment of our local guide and driver. This is totally unacceptable and I plead for anyone considering to book here to confirm that the accommodation and food provided to your driver are not substandard. Besides the moral issue, you cannot afford to have a driver that is not well rested and fed as this can pose a safety risk as they drive you and your group for more than 8-10 continuous hours per day. Our driver sadly informed us that this is not the only lodge that treats them this way, so when booking your stay please do not forget to check the standard of the accommodation and food your driver will also receive. We were not aware of this issue so I hope that this review helps to make other travellers informed.
