We had our wedding 21st September 24. What an amazing day we had. Food, staff and venue absolutely outstanding. Staff so accommadting nothing to much trouble. Just a perfect day from start to finish. Dj Darren was brilliant everyone danced the night away. Carol has helped plan this day and what a day it was. Carol you are amazing. Customer service above and beyond. Thank you all for making our day a perfect memory we can treasure forever 💖

A quiet nights rest. Room a little small, with worn furniture. Expensive for what it is. Staff, without exception, provided a perfunctory service. Restaurant very slow and service disjointed. A good menu, promising all local produce. Local doesn't mean good though, as my well cooked pork chop was 75% solid fat, it should have been sent back to the butcher. Drinks in the bar; nice and comfy, very relaxed. Breakfast was slightly odd as there wasn't a buffet, as is customary in hotels of this standard, every part had to be ordered and bought to the table. I wasn't keen on that.

My friends and I went for Sunday lunch. We were put in the bar area. The room was really dirty, thick dust. The starters were fine but the mains !!! My friends both had beef which was chewy. I had pork that was grey, I just left it. The vegetables were terrible, parsnips and carrots burnt black. Boiled potatoes, so hard you couldn’t eat them. Absolutely awful!

We booked our wedding here for the end of August 2024. The communication with Carol leading up to our stay was fantastic - there was no question left unanswered. The staff were amazing, very helpful and attentive to all of our needs. Our wedding day went smoothly, and the staff were a massive part of that. We will definitely be returning again in the future for anniversaries! Thanks again to all the staff for a fantastic few days!

Visited today with family for Sunday lunch, haven’t been here for several years. The hotel hasn’t changed, it felt dated and lacked atmosphere. The Sunday lunch was disappointing mainly because the beef was tough as leather. The starters were fine. It may be locally sourced but the meat was inedible. Other guests said the same. When I raised it with staff I was told they would do better next time. Alas to say there won’t be a next time. Came away feeling disappointed.

Lovely hotel in beautiful Monmouthshire with great attention to detail and friendly staff. Cute little bar and friendly guests. The breakfast was one of the best I have ever eaten. Delicious sausages and bacon, poached egg perfect and lovely grilled tomatoes.

Warm and welcoming check in at reception. Location beautiful, a lovely Manor House and gardens immaculate and stunning. Easy access to Usk town but in a peaceful tranquil spot. Room decor dated but clean and very spacious - with a lovely view over a side garden. Bed was wonderful - Queen size and linen soft and luxurious. Perfect pillows for us - a rarity on our travels. Hospitality tray basic, but everything you need. Breakfast was tasty and quality ingredients. Lots of communal rooms to sit in and relax and the gardens are a must with a drink or a coffee in the evening.

What a wonderful stay with family for my Son’s 40th Birthday celebration. The hotel was ideally situated just a 5 minutes walk into the pretty town of Usk. It’s a classic hotel set in beautiful grounds and oozed loads of charm as did the dedicated staff. The hotel approach is stunning. The sun came out for us on arrival and we had drinks outside on the lawns. We had booked dinner for the evening for 12 of us. A special mention to Alex who went to great lengths to help us arrange the meal beforehand with thought and make the evening so perfect for us. We had great food including ribeye steaks,rack of lamb and roast duck which were all well presented and really well cooked. The waiting staff were excellent. We were so pleased to have chosen this venue and thank you all so much for making it a memorable Birthday !

J'ai organisé un road trip au Pays de Galles en voitures anciennes pour un groupe d'amis (16 voitures/32 personnes) au mois de mai 2024 et nous avons séjourné deux nuits dans cet hôtel hautement recommandable. La maison a du charme, les chambres sont confortables et bien équipées, la nourriture est excellente et surtout nous avons unanimement apprécié la haute qualité de l'accueil : Alex s'est mis en quatre avec son équipe pour nous accueillir et satisfaire nos attentes : je n'oublie pas le personnel de l'ombre notamment des cuisines qui a su nous régaler. Le Glen yr Afon est de l'avis de tous mes amis le numéro 1 des 9 hôtels de notre parcours....d'où le titre de cet avis.
