Absolute perfection just outside of Montepulciano! We visited as two couples and had the best 2 night stay at Villa Cicolina. From the moment we arrived, to leaving we were treated with such warmth and kindness from the staff. We adored the two ladies who ran reception & the cooking class! Made our stay so memorable. The two rooms we had were lovely. Modern interiors with beautiful Tuscan exteriors, and views for days. It felt like we had our own accommodation and were not at a hotel! The pool area was stunning. Views were just so beautiful. Felt so lucky to be there (especially enjoying an aperol!). We booked the private cooking class too which was 3 hours & so much fun. Our host was great chat and we all had a super time. What is even better is they serve up the pasta & dishes you prepare later that evening in the hotels restaurant for you to enjoy which was such a special touch. Its €140 and includes around 1 bottle of wine per person and making starter, 3 pasta dishes & a dessert. Such a good afternoon! It's well positioned around 7 min drive from the town. Montepulciano is not very well connected with taxis so do book in advance or make sure you have a driver willing not to indulge in the wine :) Recommend visiting Icario, canetto & de ricci wineries nearby. Such good tastings and all very different! We will absolutely return, 2 nights was not enough.

Villa Cicolina is an adorable postcard perfect boutique hotel just outside of Montepulciano. The staff are friendly, the food and wine is delicious and the pool/garden area is beautiful. The hotel is exactly like the pictures and is a wonderful spot for enjoying the surrounding areas. It feels like you are staying at a friend's house in the countryside. A little close to the road but not noticeable when in the common areas and means you do not need a 4x4. Overall, highly recommend!

Very disappointed. Rooms not very clean when you get out of the shower we had to wipe of our feet before putting on socks. The shower had rough concrete walls no tile I wonder how they keep them clean? Spider webs on the chairs that we left for four days to see if they would clean them. The chairs were so uncomfortable the we never sat in most of them. No table or desk so it's difficult to sit and do some research on your laptop. Breakfast was okay dinner menu was awful. The so called Duck Medallions were like pressed rolled up headcheese. I'll post a photo. Getting somewhere else for dinner was difficult so we ended up in a local pizza place. Last night there I had caught a bad cold so we decided to try the restaurant again. Can't believe it as it was Friday night and they were closed apparently we didn't get the memo and nothing had been posted at breakfast. To bad as the property is beautiful and has great potential. Not a comfortable piece of furniture on the property. Staff was friendly so its not their fault. For the money they charge its a joke. The owner need to step up his game and invest in this lovely property. We went to Mormoraia near San Gimignano next and found ourselves in an Italian heaven. The only reason I give it 2 stars was the ground are beautiful.

We had a lovely stay at this property. The staff was more than attentive and the service stellar. The views are spectacular, the gardens/grounds are immaculate and the rooms are spacious. If you want a modern hotel with modern amenities this is not the place for you, but we love to visit older “updated” properties and this was just perfect for us!

I always come here with family every year. Everything is perfect. The food. The staff are lovely and chatty. The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are really comfortable. The pool is really clean. They have room service and they do cooking classes. It’s easy to get to. It’s near a couple of lovely town’s such as Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino. There’s also a lovely relaxed vibe to it because it’s in the countryside where it’s so quiet.

A slice of Paradise! This is a spectacular Villa with gorgeous grounds that include an amazing pool and hot tub. They have a very lovely restaurant in which they service breakfast and dinner. We took advantage of their romantic dinner for 2 in their private room. The most romantic evening my wife and I have ever had. The staff were wonderful. The villa is less than a Kilometer from Montapulciano and a number of wonderful wineries that make Vin Nobili. (Villa Cicolino also make it - and it is delicious) If you want to have the fairy tale of a Under the Tuscan Sun vacation become reality - Stay at Villa Cicolina

Upon our departure from Villa Cicollina, our family of three voted on whether, if given the opportunity, we’d stay again at an agriturismo: two said yes and one said no. This may reflect some of the pleasures and quirks of staying at a centuries-old working farm. The estate itself is breathtaking - on a hillside in Montepulciano, with an incomparable view and beautifully maintained landscaping. The colorfully frescoed lobby and the restaurant bright with high arched windows are memorable, elegant spaces more consistent with a fancy hotel than a working farm. I’ll never forget the sky full of stars and stunning sunrise. The restaurant is well worth a stop, offering delicious and ample food with the most hospitable service. Each day there is a “suggested menu” consisting of an appetizer, a pasta, an entree, and dessert, all of which are available a la carte and several steak options are offered as well. A wine pairing of local wines, including a vino nobile of the villa’s own, is available. The food was much better than anything we found in town and the experience was incomparable - a reservation for dinner here should be sought out. The breakfast at Villa Cicollina was a spread of multiple bakery goods, sweet and savory options, and made-to-order espresso drinks served in the lovely restaurant. Without a doubt, the food was the best part of the stay. Traveling as a family, we stayed in “Il Noce,” the little detached 2-bedroom farmhouse just down the path from the main building. While it was quaint to the eye, the beds clean and comfortable, nicely made up every day (to our surprise) and the surroundings peaceful, it was unfortunately furnished with an old, dirty looking and broken sofa which collapsed when someone sat on it, was missing the dining room table shown on their website…and the laminated sign reminding you to close the door to keep out stink bugs should have tipped us off that we’d have co-inhabitants: in addition to stink bugs, also pill bugs, spiders, and a couple of large cockroaches. It’s a farmhouse, probably several hundred years old, we get it. But what was more disappointing was the response of the staff when we let them know: they basically didn’t seem to care. For example, they basically shrugged and offered to have someone come fix the sofa as if broken furniture should be expected, and when we asked about the dining table we were told, “There is another table outside the cottage and the kitchen is just for looks, it does not work, so you should not need the dining table.” We didn’t complain about the bugs as we thought that might be an unfixable characteristic of the farmhouse, but overheard someone from one of the other rooms letting the front desk know about lots of bugs in her room and being told, “It must have been the cleaning ladies.” The young man at the desk let us know that he wasn’t the “regular person,” so perhaps things would have been better if the owner or manager were present, but we expected more for 40

We chose Villa Cicolina because of the wonderful ratings in Trip Advisor and our desire to try a Tuscan getaway - It was perfect! The Villa is located just about 1 mile from Montepulciano and its quaint streets, shops and restaurants. It is also close to local wineries and short drives to Siena, Cortana and Montalcino. The Villa is rustic but peaceful with gorgeous view of the Tuscan countryside from its reflection pool and hot tub. It has a lovely restaurant that serves delicious breakfasts and dinners (except Thursday nights). Our room was a large suite in the main building with a sitting room and bedroom that had a very comfortable bed and pillows. The staff were most helpful. What we loved most was the VERY romantic dinner for two they can arrange in a private dining room. It made the Fairy Tale reality. If you are looking for that perfect Tuscan romantic getaway-look no further. It is here at Villa Cicolina.

Buyer Beware. We booked a Junior Suite on the hotel’s website lured by the glowing reviews and photos of light airy rooms with grand views of the lush Tuscany country side. What we got was a dark, dank room behind the restaurant the only view being a stone wall through the room's singular window -which we were told not to open due to a stinkbug infestation, and the constant hum of a dehumidifier whirling 24/7. It was like we were stuck in someone’s garage storage room. When we voiced our complaints we were met with an indifferent shrug by the unhelpful, and often unavailable, staff. We were shocked at just how badly our experience at this hotel was. If there were other options available for the two nights that we were in Montepulciano we would have left pronto. Lastly, we paid more money to stay here than we did at any of the other (quite fabulous) hotels we booked on this trip. This is my first and only bad review to write on TA but hopefully it helps others avoid a similar experience. I imagine the other rooms are nice as people seem to love this place, sadly we were not fortunate enough to come away with that same impression.
