"The Freddie Mercury" Hotel

Although this hotel seems to be positioned as a budget accommodation, it provides shower caps, a shaving kit and a vanity kit, apart from a hand, body, shampoo gel combined in 1. Coffee, tea and water are also provided in the room. We had a room on the 5th floor which had a balcony and boasts views of the lake and the alpine. Room is clean, comfortable and has exceptionally big wardrobe space. A safe and umbrella are also provided. Breakfast was a buffet with Turkish influence offering dolmas and hummus as part of their offerings. You can help yourself to free coffee, tea and hot chocolate throughout the day. As I’m allergic to caffeine, am I glad they offer camomile and ginger with lemon tea. Reception staff are very friendly. Super convenient, clean and comfortable.

This is a basic hotel but such a gem. There are many students who stay here for longer term. The set up is almost like a university hall of residents. Don’t let that deter you. Pros: The staffs are super helpful. Location is perfect, don’t even need to get out of the train station. You walk right right from platform 1 of the station. Takes three mins. The room is clean, they even provide slippers and shower nice and hot. A lot of wardrobe space as it is used for longer term stay. Check in was fast and efficient. Do communicate properly as front desk is up to 23:00. There is laundry room. It cost CHS 5 for washer and dryer each. No change given but we went to a shop and got some change. I think there is soap powder but we always brought our own. Breakfast is unexpectedly nice with hot and cold items, pastries, bread, cereals, milk, juices, plenty of fruits and even dessert like cheese cakes. Hot items include ham, sausages, bacon, eggs, hot porridge. Cons: room is basic, a bit like student residence but comfortable enough. Pillows very flat, we had to fold it to make it higher. I will stay again if ever return to Montreux.

Newly opened, good lcoation - a few minutes walk to the town center. They opened not long ago and we had a bunch of issues: no response to our booking requests(like parking.., which is not available), they could not find our reservation made via ***********, we were told "no breakfast", and then I saw people having breakfast next morning. The sad thing was that the guy(Stefan?manager?) was very defensive and not proactive to solve any issue. The lday at the receoption was good and emphatic, but was told-off by her boss.. The only thing I do not complain is the room and bathroom. They have a lot of fixing to do to serve customers properly...
