I wanted a stress free weekend for my family! I rented a large cabin , so we would all be under 1 roof! There was a maintance issue i was told. But then manager slipped and said it was double booked! I dont know what the truth was. We were given 2 cabins close together. We made do. But it defeated the purpose of being their. We were told at 2 :30 our cabins were 15 minutes from being completed. We knew check in was 4:00. We continued to play at water park. 4 :15 i went to get the cabins keys. Was told by the desk clerk and housekeeping they were not clean yet. Then house keeping said they were. I didnt find out till the next morning. Garbage was found between the bottom bunk and wall. Obviously sheets hadnt been changed or checked! I found someones medicine cup in my room on the floor by bed. Again must not have been cleaned!!! Waterpark was fun.... but had its own issues! Womens bathroom stalls had no toilet paper in any of them. Saturday they were very busy. Bathrooms should have been checked! We went back to pool on Sunday.... they were short on lifegaurds. I get it! Ive also taken 75 plus kids to a swimming pool with the daycare i worked at. I know how easy it is for a small child or anyone to slip and fall in a pool! Two male lifegards were more interested in their conversation then watching the lazy river and 3 ft area. I dont know if right now i would suggest Honey Creek Resort. Been getting the run around with manager! But they sure were in a hurry to charge my card!

My wife and I went for the New Years eve celebration. Room rate was discounted for the holiday which was great. We ate at the restaurant and they offered a smaller menu then normal and a buffet for $29.95 which I tried. My wife had the Prime rib and she said it was satisfactory. My buffet though was way overpriced. The meal consisted of pork, chicken, mashed potatoes, corn and green beans. The two meats were less then satisfactory. We did purchase tickets for the band Standing Hampton and they were fantastic. We stayed for about 90 minutes and decided to go to bed. That ended up being one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a hotel. Some parents decided to leave their 4 kids in the room alone while they went to the New Years eve celebration. These kids were banging the hallways, running up and down blowing noise devices. This continued even though we heard some other adults telling them to quiet down. They didn't and about 11:30 I opened my door abruptly and told them to get in their room in a less then mild voice. They did but were still making noises in their room. Finallly, about 12:15 their parents came in after having some drinks at the party and they were as loud as the kids were. Needless to say my wife and I didn't sleep too well the rest of the night. The wall in this hotel are paper thin and you can hear everything. Upon checking out in the morning I told the receptionist of our bad night but was not offered an apology or any sort of discount. We won't be going again.

This review is of the RV campground, and not reflective of the rest of the grounds. The good: Full hook up sites, paved. Nice distances between sites. All sites have fire ring/grill. Abundant wildlife, including deer, eagles, raccoon. There is good cellular service which enabled us to work during our stay. Our dislikes: the price was very high for what we wanted. We wanted a place to camp. For $90/day you can camp and have access to all the resort amenities. We were quoted $65/day, but not told ahead about the additional resort fees when we booked. Concrete pads had tall ****s growing in cracks, grass was over a foot high (the golf course was mowed twice during our stay, we were told campground could not be mowed due to rain). Sites are uneven front/back and left/right. Sewer hookup was uphill on our site. First site we were given was not wired correctly (but had plug) for 50 amp service. It has been 10 years since we camped here, it will be at least that long before we come back.

We just finished a large family vacation with my siblings and their families and my parents, 28 people. My mom had reserved three cottages next to each other over a year ago. Upon checking in, we were told that the third cottage was not available. Our kind hospitality person - Pam - tried explaining that they don’t reserve specific cabins and we shouldn’t have been told that we would have those three.- my mom even had it in writing in an email confirmation. However, Pam worked with us, and even though part of the family was displaced one night in 2 different cabins, we were all together the next two evenings in the 3 that had been originally promised and were compensated for the inconvenience. Our family enjoyed using the bikes of various sizes which were convenient to take from the cabins back and forth to the main lodge to enjoy the small indoor waterpark and beach. There are great paved sidewalks for a bike path, running, and walking. The indoor waterpark is perfect for toddlers and young kids as the depth never exceeds 3 or 3.5 feet. This part of the facility closes at 7pm. From the main lodge/hotel, it is a small hike to their beach where there are lounge chairs and a few lily pads for guests to use, and kayaks and paddle boards are available, but only when a staff lifeguard is present. The beach is free of sea**** and algae and clean. We heard that there are plans for new inflatables to return to this area as the new owners removed the old ones because they were concerned about the safety of them. The bikes, waterpark, and rentals at the beach are included with the amenities wristband that can be purchased. We were told that the new management has plans for major renovations thanks to a large grant. Lake Rathbun State Park is a beautiful area, so this grant is a blessing for the resort. One such renovation is already underway, and that is their nature center, so unfortunately, we were unable to enjoy the daily activities there that existed with the previous ownership. We were told the grant money would also be used to replace the furniture, countertops, and cabinets in the cottages, which are definitely in need of it. The layout of our 4 bedroom cottages was convenient, supplied with linens and towels as well as soap dispensers in the shower, and a variety of cooking utensils and pans. There’s a great covered porch and picnic table with each cottage. Overall, all staff members were pleasant and helpful, and we enjoyed our time with each other making memories, however I felt the resort was overpriced when compared to experiences staying at other cabins.

We have been coming to Honey Creek for the past 5 years as a family. We started coming with our extended family for the last 3 years (19 of us in total.) We noticed a major difference this summer during our stay. The new owners clearly want to improve things and it shows. The grounds look great, the bikes were much more usable than in the past, staff was super accommodating, and the cabins have new paint and upgrades. We had a minor issue with our air conditioning in our cabin during the hottest day of the summer and they had someone out to fix it within minutes. They came back the next morning to check on us again. We knew the aqua park had been removed from the lake, which was a bummer. The lily pads were fun but we’d love to see the aqua park back. To anyone complaining, this is not The Ritz. It is a rustic lakeside hotel. When using the cabins, it’s a step above camping. Expectations should be just that. It’s a nice place to stay in a cute cabin and spend time outdoors. Looking for posh? Head elsewhere. I highly recommend going to Louie’s Bistro for drinks or dinner. Such a cool atmosphere in the marina! Avoid Captain’s Landing. Shack on the side of the road with no atmosphere. Would like to come up for a weekend this winter and see what activities they have. We were happy to see things going in the right direction with a place that has SO much potential! It will take time, but we are excited to see all of the changes in the next year. Thank you for providing our family with a fun place to spend quality time every summer! Keep up the great work! (Thank you to Logan for giving us rides to and from the lake with a smile!)

Not what I expected in a resort. Pros: friendly and helpful staff. Room were average with TV, microwave, frig, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Beds were comfortable. Lake was really pretty and big. We were on a family fishing trip and caught a lot of fish from the dock and the lake. Cons: bathroom tub had rust around the bottom and needed to be chalked on the bottom and top of tub. Shampoo,Conditioner, and soap gel were only one quarter full. No actual swimming pool just a waterpark for kids. Did have a hot tub. Closed it down at 7pm due to no life guard. Really most places don't even have one. Let the parents watch their kids and keep it open longer. If adults wanted to swim you had to go to the lake. Closed the lobby down at 11pm for quiet time and turned out most of the lights. So if you wanted to visit or play cards or games you did it without a lot of light. The window in the room need a curtain not just a blind.. We had family at the RV park so we ate there most of the time so cannot comment on the restaurant. RV park had no bathroom or shower. All in all it was not a bad experience. Just pretty much an overpriced motel

Very nice resort, only complaint was the shower curtain that wouldn't stay closed. I wanted to give a shout out to Logan who works there, he is very helpful and personable! My wife and kids loved going on bike rides. Golf course at the resort was fantastic!!

Beautiful location, very well kept. Beach was clean and had "lily pad" flotations to play on, kayaks very easily accessible. All the attendants were very friendly and eager to help. So many activities for the family; bikes, kayaks, boats, paddle boards, inside mini water park area, and even play a game of cornhole while you wait for your meal. The restaurant needs some work. Set up is wonderful, but service is very slow, menu is limited and they close for a few hours between lunch and dinner.
