Perfect for the price

Lovely clean standard unit, nothing was a problem, always a park for my van. I was able to use the dryer for $5 for my clothes. One dryer didn’t work as well but was not a problem the owner just checked I had it on the right settings and did it again. It was incredibly quiet, we had access to sky movies, We found it really quiet and an easy walk to town, lovely and close to where we needed to be. We had fresh towels everyday. Incredible service, thank you. Value for money.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS MOTEL. We had competed a 3 week tour of the South Island staying at 14 motels. All were Studio units and all had a kitchen. After checking in to Marksman and paying, we found no kitchen! On asking at office, were told that it was only a "studio" and does not have kitchen!!! Was offered another motel with kitchen but was told I would have to pay for that as well. No refund at Marksman. TV would not work. Asked at office and staff found that TV had been turned off at the back. Apparently I was supposed to know that. Parking is impossible. More units than parking spaces. It is first come first in. However some guests were "reserving' a space by putting a cone in the park so no one else could use it. If no space you had to park out on the road some distance away. With no kitchen we could only rinse dishes. On leaving, I went to reception to say I had not washed the dishes because there was no drain plug for the bathroom basin and no dishwashing liquid. The motel owner was on the phone when I went in. I was ignored for some time and then he put a pen and paper on the counter for me to write on. I did that explaining why the dishes were not washed. Believe it or not I was told f..k off. Obviously they did not like me asking about the "studio" unit or the TV not working or the parking or no basin plug or dishwashing liquid. As I have said, DO NOT STAY AT THIS MOTEL.

Very nice place to stay.

Very old style motel with torn fabric on chair, old carpet, bathroom and kitchen. Desperately needs upgrading. Seemed reasonably clean, but skirtings were dirty. Price just acceptable given the conditions. Quiet enough and close to town.

The worst experience ever. The man on reception had an attitude problem. Booked a unit months prior for being ground level and 1 bedroom. On arrival, found we had been moved upstairs. If we didn't like it we could go elsewhere, he said. We couldn't do the stairs. Man on reception got very verbally abusive, continually shouted at us, told us he didn't want us there, to get out, go somewhere else, swore at us, and said he would call the police. We still couldn't get a word in. He would not listen. Left us shaken. Eventually given a very smelly unit, from cooking, but the whole unit was filthy, old, needing repair, and uncomfortable. The one chair was facing away from the TV - to watch this you had to sit on hard dining chairs!! Highly recommend NOT to stay there. The reception man must have some very personal issues to treat clients this way. We have stayed at this place a number of times before, but never been treated this way. Why this trea**ent now, one needs to ask!! He was guilty of "elderly abuse".

Was close to town. Busy road but affordable accommodation. Had a great weekend.
