Super 8 by Wyndham Verona/Madison

Was not notified that pool is not working, upon check in with kids who was looking forward to swimming for the weekend man at front desk was very rude, should not be in customer service, he even hung up on me when asked for refund for our stay before checking in so we could switch to a hotel with working pool, hotel had very bad customer service and should notify customers at time of booking or on website that amenities are down, we would not have booked in the first place if known pool was not working. Never got refunded money like told, will be calling corporate

I have stayed at this Super 8 several times when in the area to visit family even though it is a little out of my way. I come back because this Super 8 is clean and the staff is always ready to help. They treat guests as welcome visitors. The rooms I have been in have backed up to the large Blains Fleet Farm next door and still the rooms are quiet. The wifi speed is not great, but it is good enough for my needs. The breakfast is heavy on carbohydrates, but there are good breakfast options in the area. Through my Wyndham Rewards program I have stayed at a number of Super 8's across the county; the Verona Super 8 is definitely a notch above the others.

Stay away! Place is a dump. Grungy and ill-kept. “Breakfast” is a joke. The only warm food is toast and they were out of coffee. GM is rude and arrogant. The area is a big bicycling destination and I came to the area an event. Unlike any other hotel or motel I’ve stayed in, they forbid bikes on the property. Meaning bikes have to stay on bike racks or in cars where they can be stolen. And the place is already so skanky and banged up that walking a bike in wouldn’t risk making it worse. When I checked in the first thing the GM asked me, after my name, was if I was biking and then proceeded to tell me about their no bike rule, which was also posted on a sign at the front door. When I told him it would have been nice to know that in advance he said they couldn’t know who was coming to bike. Apparently he didn’t see the irony in the fact that they obviously do ask if people are biking, they just wait to ask until you’ve gone past your cancellation time and are standing at the desk in need of a room.

no pool and very limited breakfast

Wow! For a Super 8, this property was great! Bed and pillows were dreamy, another person in my party describes the beds as "bouncy," but I like a soft bed. The pillows weren't flat, not too soft, not too hard. Shower was hot, had great pressure, and the drain actually drained! I will say, the biggest drawback is that the walls are paper-thin, I could hear the person in the next room taking a whiz...granted, I was in an adjoining room (although I didn't know that other party and the door was closed and locked). Even so, I slept great! Everyone at the desk (I assume the owner and his family), were very friendly and offered some great dining options - we went to The Brewhouse (down a couple of blocks) and it was fantastic, both service and food (we had walleye and Irish egg rolls). If I were to visit the area again, I would definitely stay here again.

We liked the convience of the location for where we were going around Verona area and Madison. For our 4 day stay there were not alot of dining options close by. Breakfast was average but did have it every morning. Did not like that the trash in our room was not picked up when we had a 4 night stay even though we asked. We also had to ask for towels when we thought staying 4 nights we would get fresh towels at least twice without asking. Did not understand the $75 fee for any incidentals and so far it has not been added back to our card.

Very simple operation. Family run. Nice family.
