Visited on weekend in June 24. Upon being completely ignored at the bar on arrival we waited and were then ignored again by the same waitress (tall blonde female) when she went past again, so we rang the bell after waiting 5 mins (the place was almost empty so they can’t even blame being busy) and almost immediately the same waitress who’d ignored us came out from the room behind the bar and went to serve someone waiting behind us. After we said we were next we were directed to a table and told someone would take our order. Then after a 10 min wait came out what appeared to be the boss that day (short older woman waitress) who took our order informing us it’s one sandwich choice only. Drink of Tea then comes out after a 10 min wait and 10 min after that the food comes out (not great as half the tea drink had gone at that point or was going cold) Scones were dry, clotted cream pretty tasteless and jam was the very cheapest quality jam. Sandwiches were nothing better than you can do at home yourself and the home made cakes were shop bought cakes. We asked the same short waitress if we could have some more hot water for the tea and she said she’d get some and come back all whilst with her back to us walking away from us. You could then hear staff singing in the kitchen and nobody came back with more water that we had asked for. Needless to say we won’t be going back anytime to the Pilgrim. Nobody asked how our afternoon tea was, it was haphazardly served by staff who clearly didn’t want to be working there. Plenty of better choices in Herefordshire for afternoon tea or restaurant food. Would avoid.
