25hours Hotel Munich the Royal Bavarian

the location is suitable for easy traveling but also the reason i would NOT recommend. stayed in a room on level 1 (just one floor above ground) and it WAS SO NOISY. you could hear people partying outside on the street even at 12 midnight and 2am. the trams outside ran until at least 12 midnight and started again by 6am. sirens from emergency vehicles also clearly audible. the sound proofing in the room was POOR. i was rudely awakened by someone slamming their room door late at night. DO NOT recommend for light sleepers. the area around the central train station didn't feel the safest as well with many ppl congregating randomly. since my room was the reception floor, i didn't feel assured because non-hotel guests could easily tailgate ppl into the rooms area. check-in was SLOW and the staff just seemed clueless and uninterested. my friends asked for extra pillows and they never came until we asked for them again the next day. no cups, kettle, slippers provided in the roon, although mini bar was free. we left our luggage at the reception and collected them over two batches and they mistagged the luggage. staff did try to ensure we were the rightful owners which was slightly reassuring. room and corridors were SO DARK that i wouldn't be able to tell if it was clean. even the bathroom wasn't sufficiently bright. sinks and toilet were black so water stains were so obvious. the darkness just made it difficult to pack my luggage. bathroom was spacious, showers were hot but temperatures weren't maintained. there was a strange window in the bathroom but the window shade was from outside of the bathroom which does not make sense and uncomfortable for non-couples. i also did not like the separate taps for hot and cold water. i would not pay what i paid to stay at this hotel again.

Nice decoration. Room is relatively small but fancy. We waited for the check-in as we arrived before check-in time. Some people arrived after us, but could check in immediately which gave us a bit bad impression of the service but they handled it quite well and we could also check in earlier.

Excellent location, clean and unique rooms. The free minibar was a big plus!
