Very Good

The location of the hotel is relatively remote, so don’t be misled by other guests’ reviews. You can walk 1.4 kilometers from the station to the hotel 😓 It actually takes a long time to walk, and you have to go through 3 tunnels, especially the one near the hotel... The sun was so strong at noon, and there were no lights in the tunnel. It was so dark that I couldn't see my fingers. It was quite scary. However, the hotel staff were very nice and enthusiastic, and most of them were elderly uncles. The room is very old, like it was built during the Showa period. There is no way to check in before 3pm. However, the open-air hot spring is very good, surrounded by mountains and sea on three sides, and the indoor hot spring is extremely hot... I checked in at the end of November and almost fainted in it. If you want to go to the station, the hotel has a free bus to take guests from 8:00 to 10:00 in the morning, so be sure to plan the time in advance. The hotel's breakfast is quite rich. If you are not particularly picky about taste, you can still eat it!

Amazing

The hotel has a quiet and clean environment, with an open-air bath facing the ocean, planted with pine trees, and a high level of privacy. The kaiseki cuisine is exquisite and delicious, and the waiters are courteous and attentive. It is only a two-and-a-half-minute drive from a supermarket and Katsuura fishing port. It is also 20 minutes away from various scenic spots in Mt. Nachi. Just a short drive away. Worth recommending to everyone.

The hotel is built in the mountains and needs to go through a 100-meter-long tunnel to get there. After getting off at Katsuura Station, walk for 1.4 kilometers, or take a taxi, as I remember, it costs more than 700 yen. The hotel's lobby, rooms and hot springs all face the bay, which is very pleasant. The staff was very enthusiastic and provided the timetable for the Kumano Kodo bus and the Ji の Matsushima Cruise. The breakfast is Japanese style and very rich. Although it does not have the sunrise scenery of Urashima Hotel, it is cheap and good.

We stayed for a few days and this allowed us to immerse ourselves in the absolute authenticity of a spa stay in Japan. Big + the outdoor onsen, the restaurant and the room with a view, attentive staff Small downside: hotel a little outdated “in its juice” 1970s

After having loved and explored many countries in Asia as well as in more than 100 countries of this vast world in sixty years, I experienced in this place the fifth stage of my second trip to Japan postponed for too long due to Covid and far too significant for not wanting to go back… Travel professional, author of tourist guides based in Morocco, I discovered this superb “Ryokan”, its sulphurous and hot water baths, its services and its exceptional value for money in a country with a reputation for being excessively expensive only enhances this stay. Exceptional is therefore not an empty word to describe this establishment where you go from surprise to surprise when discovering its “room”, as well as delicious and finely presented cuisine… A feast for the eyes… A delight for the taste buds … And a new art of living by donning the samurai outfit that all the guests wear to go to dinner… Peace of soul and tranquility of mind are the key words of this residence whose past combines with the world today in an environment of exceptional beauty.
