As we prepare to checkout of the Hampton Inn & Suites in Nocogdoches, I looked back on our stay, as I like to review good hotels for other travelers. This is NOT one of those times. This was, without a doubt, THE worst Hampton Inn & Suites we’ve ever stayed in. We were in Nacogdoches for a softball tournament and chose this hotel. Big mistake. Comfort Suites is next door, Best Western is across the street, Holiday Inn Express is also next door, and Super 8 is about a block down the street. I wish we’d have stayed at any other hotel instead of this Hampton Inn. And it was the most expensive of all of them. We were in room 332. Every time we left the room and returned, our “older technology” room key cards would not work. So we’d have to go downstairs & get new keys. This happened 6 times. The Hampton “digital key” on my iPhone never worked and would return an error each time I tried to use it, which was every time the key card wouldn’t work. Management could not fix the error and seemed totally unconcerned. And when we did get new key cards that worked, the door stuck so badly my wife could not push hard enough to open the door. The AC was out in the hallway of the entire 3rd floor. So, as you stepped out of your room your glasses would fog over. This was also during the hottest weekend of the year, so far. The heat index was 123* at 2:30pm yesterday, and I bet the 3rd floor hallway was 140*. Management said they knew about it, but had no ETA of when it would be fixed. The shower has 3 containers connected to the wall…shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. Our shampoo bottle was bone dry, so we had to use shower gel for shampoo. The water pressure in the shower was non-existent. The mattress on one of our beds (we had two queens) was super hard and lumpy…the other was OK. Other than all the issues, the room was adequate. The free breakfast was nothing to write home about, just OK. So, if you’re planning a trip to Nacogdoches and looking for a place to stay, I’d go anywhere but the Hampton.
Very Good
