Calvinia hotel was like an oasis in the desert. Comfortable, cool and comforting. We had to book for our return trip as well.

Very small dark twin room provided at back of hotel so no outlook except parking area. They did provide a generator for load shedding as well as Wifi. Dinner & breakfast served nicely in the large restaurant. Lacked any a**osphere with its new decor.

The overall impression of the hotel is old and that it needs attention. The wals need paint, the screws of the door handle needs to be tighten, the water pressure of the shower was bad, there was a smell of sewage in the backyard. The new tiles in the bathroom were poorly fitted. The bath showed wear and tear.

It was good to see the revamp of Calvinia Hotel is in working process. The Restuarant looks very nice. Buffet Breakfast!!!! Friendly service everytime i go there. Give Jennifer the receptionist a big five, She always welcomes me with a smile with my every visit. Looking forward for the next visit. Keep up the good work!!!

Kaum hatten wir im Oktober 2021 ein Zimmer in diesem Hotel bei *********** gebucht und uns laut Vertrag verpflichtet, zwei Wochen vor Ankunft zu bezahlen, wurde bereits die Gesamtsumme vom Hotel über Nightsbridge abgebucht. Mehrere schriftliche Reklamationen diesbezüglich wurden weder von *********** noch von Nightsbridge beantwortet. Bei Ankunft im Hotel im März 2022 war uns ein "dreckiges Loch" im Nebengebäude zugeteilt: klein, dreckig, alte abgeschlagene Möbel, verschmierte Badezimmertür! Es bestand keinerlei Übereinstimmung mit den Bildern bei *********** und auf der Homepage des Hotels. Wir hatten mit Abreise und unverzüglicher Erstattung des Preises gedroht. Nach längeren Diskussionen mit dem Management wurde uns ein anderes Zimmer zugewiesen: ziemlich sauber und geräumig, Betten in Ordnung. Eine Nacht hat gereicht!

Country hotels should close down, I have been to three of them which are Springbok, Calvinia and Upington. The first time I was at Springbok I was with the institution I worked for previously and it was fine no complaints. I went to Upington with my current institution and it was fine no complaints. I went to Calvinia in February 2022 and the room I was booked into had no fridge while my colleagues had fridges and then I had to request it from reception which they brought, then it was the Wi-Fi oh my God I was tired of walking up and down to request everything that is supposed in my room then in the morning the lady- I am not sure if she is the owner or what had an attitude at breakfast the quantity of milk she had poured in a jug was to little to serve cereals for all three of my colleagues and then the omlette they made was very bad. NO more Calvinia country hotel.

Aufgrund der schönen Zimmerfotos im Internet haben wir hier eine Übernachtung gebucht. Leider war unser Zimmer weit von den abgebildeten Zimmern entfernt. Wir erhielt ein etwas grösseres Loch im Hinterhaus bei den Parkplätzen. Das Zimmer war rundum mit Wandschränken versehen und verfügte nur über ein sehr kleines Fenster. Um zur Toiletten zu gelangen musste man durch eine Schranktür gehen. Das Zimmer war zwar sauber aber sehr veraltet und schmuddelig. Eine Renovation wäre angebracht. Haustiere sind in diesem Hotel zwar nicht erlaubt. Trotzdem mussten wir ab 04:00 Uhr in der Früh das Bellen der Hunde unseres Zimmernachbars anhören. Zum Glück übernachteten wir nur 1 Nacht im angeblich besten Hotel von Calvinia. Das einzig positive war das Nachtessen. Dies ist nun bereits die zweite schlechte Erfahrung nach Clanwilliam mit einem Country Hotel. Wir können diese Hotelkette nicht mehr empfehlen und werden auch nie mehr in einem Hotel dieser Gruppe übernachten.
