ive been here 5 years, and love it here! people are super, they share all the fishing spots to new comers, we have a real fishing club here that includes everyone. Dont be shy!! just ask where the fish are at the boat docks, and youll be in the best fishing zone in ALL southern ontario. The park is always improving, So come with a good freindship attitude and have the best summer ever!! Cheers!

We have been at this park for 2 years. When we first went in, not great. BUT, it has came a long way. Manager works hard with what she has. Meaning not a lot of management help. The park has gotten new docks, and they are awesome. The social committee put on all types of programs, for children as well as adults. I believe people want to be pampered, although this is a park. Camp, be happy, stop gossiping in the negative fashion and it would be a much greater place. I would give manager and staff a Thank You not complain. One final thing is office needs to be open 7 days a week, as well as better hours.

Curb appeal for this park is unbelievable snow fence and caution tape everywhere. The pool is sometimes open. Sometimes not there is no ladder at the swim area. The fish cleaning station shed was taken apart and now they don’t know how to put it back together, so it sits as a platform The qualifications of the park manager is that of a chimpanzee a lot of the residents in this park fear that if they say something bad or write a review, that’s not good they will be bullied out of the park. There was an email sent out to members of the park asking for a three or four star review only and any less than that they must come to the office and discuss it this park needs new management if it has any chance of becoming a family friendly park I wish upper management can come down and help us with this issue and see what the park really is when he’s not around

I've been in tge park for 7 years now and it has certinly changed significantly in that time, Originally known as Pickerel Park probably due to the incredible fishing in Hay Bay, Two trailer parks were combined to make up the current park some years ago, The process of updating the 1960's vintage park services has taken a few years as you would expect, Over the past several years Sun Retreats has installed, New electrical services at every site, New expanded docks and swim area, New large sptic system and field bed, renovated park office, Updated pool system and area to allow longer operating hours , Installed gate entry system, New maintinance Building, The modernization of the park is almost complete making this a great place to stay for years to come,

This is a work in progress. The park is still in the process of completing many improvements to many areas. Sun retreats has aggressively worked to make improvements to the park infrastructure. The electrical system was completely upgraded a few years ago and we enjoy a reliable electrical system. The heated swimming pool has received all new pumps, heater, chlorinating system, filters. This has extended the pool hours and made it more reliable. The boat docks which were falling apart are being repaired and expanded. The road dust has been contained and is Now controlled and apparently a maintenance program has been contracted for future dust control. The park is full of a wonderful mix of campers and the activities committee volunteers provide a variety of activities for all including 9 bands this summer, fishing tournaments and themed activities. The park staff and manager work long hours to provide the best experience possible and are approachable to address your concerns. So I look forward to the many projects in the works being completed and the new pavilion and other projects planned to keep improving the park and our experience here

The dust, oh the dust! Treating the gravel roads for dust is not a priority which then causes a constant foggy haze over the campground. It covers EVERYTHING! Your vehicle, your trailer, inside your trailer, on your skin, your food and the constant taste of it in your mouth. Sitting outside is difficult due to the dust, if you don’t breath or open your mouth or eyes no worries. Sun retreat denies guest from erecting add a rooms, decks, or any other site upgrades at your cost of course, unless they are a very specific brand or meet their very specific specification which they won’t tell you what they are you have to fill out a site upgrade form’ and wait weeks to hear if it was denied or approved because they want to make sure everything meets their ‘curb appeal standards’, again no information is given on what these standards are as they want final say on what you do and giving these standard could mean someone does something they don’t think looks pretty. But the dust is not included in the curb appeal standards? Looking at trailers, cars and even people like they haven’t been washed in months is not a curb appeal standard for them as it cost them money they don’t think would benefit them. Now they did allow campers to spray the road in front of their site 2 times a day with water(again if it’s broke the campground will tell you how to fix it and not fix it themselves) but wait, they didn’t get the lake water pump in before the camping season began(or get other basic items ready like the pool, fish cleaning station, docks in and pretty much every other thing they offer was not and most still it ready) so the well is running dry and a conserve water issue was give so no more wetting down the dust. Issue you on your site? Need something corrected or fixed? No problem if it’s your first year and bring in new money. Not your first year, you can wait weeks, now months to have something fixed or maybe even given a zip tie by management to fix it yourself because maintenance is too busy to fix it even though you lost hundreds of dollars in food because of their electrical issues. If you’re looking for a place to call home for the summer and literally write your name in dust on everything you own, even your own body, feel welcomed with open arms the first 2 weeks and ignored and treated like your an inconvenience by sun retreat after that for years to come, this is the place for you. The best part of this campground is the other campers. They are all amazing! Very kind, generous, trusting and wonderful people. If only the park cared even a fraction of how much the campers do for their sites and each other this would be a beautiful place.

Unfortunately the park is not what it once was. Management is more concerned about ensuring no unpaid guests come in than taking care of basic maintenance of the park. Roads are soooooo unkept that the dust flies everywhere coating everything. Impossible to sit outside on a warm day as it gets in your eyes and mouth. Ongoing issue since last year, and always some excuse. I don’t go camping to have to sit inside a trailer because of the filth.
