This Courtyard is in a nice location on the river in New Bern. The historic town is easy walking distance. I was upgraded to a room overlooking the river which I appreciated. The room is fine but I wish Marriott had brighter lights. We have a tiny balcony which is nice. Be forewarned that the seagulls are cacophonous. We grabbed wine at the Bistro. The wine list is in flux. The food is typical bistro fare but many restaurants are a short walk away. I guess I just don't get the courtyard business model without free breakfast, happy hour or even water bottles. But I'm using points so definitely the best option!

STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. This was our 3rd stay here and upon check in our TV did not work, staff came to room & could not get it to work. Said maintenance man was off so she texted him and told us we could watch TV in the lobby. The next day, we were gone all day, upon return still no TV and no one on staff followed up. Told them again of problem upon check out, they had to have manager call us the following week. He was very rude, called us liars because his maintenance man told him the TV worked fine (this was after he plugged in all the USB ports). I filed a case with corporate Marriott, he sent them an email saying the TV was fixed by his people and everything was fine and he gave us a $50.00 refund so they closed the case without speaking to us again. For the price of this hotel, (2 nights was $700.00) and they don't offer breakfast or a microwave in the room, or an ice machine on the first floor, there are other beautiful places to stay close by.

My husband and I spent eight nights here. The location can’t be beat. We could easily walk to everything sweet historic downtown New Bern has to offer. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the river. We often had morning coffee and pre-dinner drinks out there. The sea bird activity was amazing. Some things to note - housekeeping service is only every other day, but they were thorough and very friendly. Also, the pool does not open until Memorial Day, a disappointment for us. If we come back to New Bern we would stay here again.

Conveniently located near all the attractions (Tryon Palace, restaurants, waterfront), safe area, nice for walking. Hotel is clean and quiet, beds are comfortable. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Giid value for the price. The only negatives which are minor that the housekeeping needs a bit of coaching so that each time they service a room: they check on certain items such as: 1 - room 326 door lock did not work and sink stopper did not work They were helpful at the desk and moved us to room 326 2 - door lock did not work, it locked us out but the maintenance guy fixed it immediately 3 - no cups left by housekeeping but another trip to the front desk who provided us cups
