Old No. 77 Hotel is not your typical, corporate, hotel; the location was great for those who do not want to be in the French Quarters but not too far (12 minutes away est.) away. First I would like to note, that I had an overall pleasant encounter with the staff over the phone when booking our room. Paul the sales manager was welcoming and provided great customer service. Upon arriving we noticed, that the outside was riddled with gorgeous plants. The inside lobby had a welcoming vibe and was decorated with very nice paintings. Pros - the room had a lingering stench that we smelled throughout the room. The smell became so annoying that we considered checking out sooner than planned, we had to keep the air and fan on coupled with air fresher to deal with the stench. I really was looking forward to staying here after seeing the pictures, but the rooms do not live up to the pictures at all. The staff sent a can of Lysol to the room to help combat the stench. Also, the ceiling fan light did not work nor did the iron. The housekeeper was accommodating and friendly, and promptly replaced the iron with a new one. Overall the rooms were a complete letdown and it was very hard to stay in the room; which is unfortunate because the hotel has great potential. The rooms need an update and thorough cleaning. Also, the carpets throughout the halls are filthy! Needless to say, I will not be returning. After checking out the hotel, we received an email with a 25% discount on our NEXT stay, do us a favor and provide us with a discount off of our recent stay! Also, hidden fees were charged. (FYI: I toggled back and forward about giving the hotel 1 star)
