A hotel with a bit of a retro vibe in an old beat up building. I think the hope is that the retro decor gives it a “cool” feel, making you overlook the fact it’s an old and dirty building. But that trick didn’t work for me. I could not help but notice all the dirty floors, and build up of dust, grime and damage on the walls and baseboards (for example). The rooms (at least mine) had old linoleum floors, which were cold and uncomfortable to walk on, and made sounds echo across the room. Little natural light into the room was exasperated by black paint on the walls making the room dark and having to use phone flashlight to see (for example) into the drawers and armoire, even with lights on. The minibar was well stocked, but who wants to have a drink in the room when the only place to sit down to enjoy it is either on the bed or an old uncomfortable dinette-style chair in the corner. No coffee in the rooms, or in the lobby, with the only morning coffee option being an attached coffee shop for $5/cup medium-sized drip coffee. On the plus side, the staff was generally pleasant, and the attached restaurant was good. The attempt to be “cool” doesn’t overcome the many shortcomings of this hotel. Lots of better options at this price point.
