The Donard Hotel

Absolutely love this hotel it really is the best where it's located prefect very clean, rooms are prefect.

We stayed from Friday to Sunday and had a really enjoyable weekend at the Donard. The hotel staff were all friendly, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent, with both continental and cooked options to choose from. The location is fantastic too – very central, with a pub right next door and plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance. Overall, everything about the weekend was great, and we’d happily stay here again. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

I was part of an 11 strong group taking on the Mourne Mountains for charity and from the moment I reached out to Kevin at The Donard, he provided exceptional service, accommodating our (sometimes tricky) needs. The staff were so welcoming, the beds were comfortable, the water was hot and the breakfast was delicious. This hotel is a little gem 🫶🏼

The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful and offered advice on where to go in the town for restaurants and bars. The room we booked was lovely, spacious and very clean. Overall a very good experience, thanks very much to all staff including Kevin and Ciara!

I stayed at The Donard Hotel for one night during a college trip to Newcastle. For a 3‑star hotel, it was actually better than I expected. The location is perfect — right beside the beach and only a short walk from cafés, shops, and the promenade. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was genuinely good, especially considering the price range. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel had a cosy atmosphere. The only issue was the long wait for hot water in the bathroom taps, which was a bit frustrating when getting ready. Apart from that, everything else was fine and the stay was enjoyable. Overall, I would stay here again for a short trip, but the hotel should definitely improve the hot water system

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Donard Hotel, and it was a genuinely wonderful experience from start to finish. Staff at the hotel were excellent, nothing was too much trouble.Stayed in triple hotel room, while the view was disappointing the room was fine. Bed’s comfortable and comfortable old definitely stay again.

Great stay for St Patrick's day. Room modern, clean and beds very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great, poached eggs done to perfection. Staff accomodating and extremely pleasant and helpful. Hotel near to everywhere. Would definitely stay again. Well worth the price only £99 a night.

This was our first time in Newcastle so first time in the Donard Hotel and what an amazing experience from start to finish. From the friendly greeting on arrival to the warm farewell 2 days later, everything in this hotel was perfect. The room was very well appointed, very large, clean and warm. Tea coffee biscuits etc. Very comfortable bed and nice seating area. Lovely complimentary continental breakfast or for just £10, a full hot breakfast which was exceptional. Again, very friendly staff serving. Bar food was basic fayre cooked perfectly. Pizzas, chicken wings, loaded fries etc. Delicious. I couldn't fault this lovely old hotel and there were 5 of us spread over 3 rooms and we all agree this is a great value hotel in a lovely vibrant seaside town!
