Super 8 by Wyndham Newport News/Jefferson Ave.

My room was impeccably clean and smelled very fresh- as if I was its first occupant. The staff was professional and courteous. I felt like a valued customer and safe. The shower was spa like and the bed was very comfortable. Originally when planning this trip, I had read all of the previous negative reviews--but I trust the Wyndham name and I believed that there were probably loads of improvements. I will definitely return next year for my conference. The location is absolutely perfect.

Let me start that I am a father an army vet, with that being said I noticed the placement of the cameras seemed odd as my door didn't have a functioning deadbolt. Lady at the front desk was occupied by some show on her phone while I stood at the front desk for a few minutes. Overall the stay was great as there is a Walmart in the next lot over. You could easily walk there. As well as another shopping center across the road. You'll have to drive unless you wish to cross the major roadway. Plenty of food options available including a Waffle House maybe 2 miles down the road.

This was in the top 2 of the worst stays we’ve ever encountered. We were in a non-smoking room but the entire first floor smelled of cigarette smoke. My husband witnessed someone smoking on the first floor. I have asthma so I don’t take this issue lightly. Our mini fridge and telephone weren’t working. When we tried to change rooms, we were told there were no other rooms available. When I asked for a refund, the manager, Al Patel, refused. Nobody ever came to fix the mini fridge or the phone. The bed was terribly uncomfortable and the free “continental” breakfast turned out to be a pre-packaged cinnamon roll on Saturday and a pre-packaged oatmeal creme pie on Sunday. We will never stay at this hotel again.

BEWARE bedbugs!!! We moved at 3 am to a different hotel because I got bit multiple times by bedbugs.
