Have just got back from a long Bank Holiday weekend stay with a group. Everything from making the booking via email, to correspondence leading up to our stay was great and efficient. The stay itself was great, swift check in as we arrived late. Everything was explained to us by friendly faces. The rooms were bright, clean, fresh and well equipped with everything we could need. The whole stay was wonderful, the hotel is in a beautiful location and we saw some stunning sunsets. The restaurant catered to us perfectly and I'd like to specifically mention a young lady (I didn't get her name but a petite blonde with a spotty blouse) really went out of her way for us. She managed our needs in both a friendly and professional manner and her efforts were very much appreciated If I'm ever back in Newquay. I'd stay again with out a doubt

We booked the Esplanade Hotel for a special occasion, for one night over the Easter weekend, and specifically requested the best room with the free standing bath tub. When we arrived we were pleased to be able to check in at 1pm, and we had the room we had asked for. The receptionist was friendly and gave us the relevant information. That evening we ate in the hotel restaurant, and were seated with amazing views over the sea, which was brilliant. The chef kindly made salads for us, as he had just changed the menu and had taken it off, yet we were really craving it, as had looked previously at the online menu, so we really appreciated that. The only let down was our side order arrived so late that we had pretty much finished our mains by then. That night however we were awoken 3 times, which somewhat tainted our stay. When you pay that much in advance for the best room in the hotel, for couples, it’s very shocking that the reservation team would book a group of young lads right opposite us. This group started banging doors and loudly banging then at 3.30am, talking loudly, going along the corridor in and out of each other rooms. It started again at 4am, and the last bout 4.45am. We were totally shattered as I realise the hotel can’t control what other guests do, however you do expect to get a nights sleep, as that’s what we book a room for. The guests were totally ignorant to do that, but the blame rests with the person who would book them opposite that room. We had to pre book a breakfast slot, and the coffee took ages to arrive, we had finished our first course, and when it did arrive the waitress had given us tea, not coffee. The porridge was dry and rubbery, and did not come with the honey etc it said on menu. I didn’t bother to ask for it as by that point we were just glad to be checking out. The restaurant was quite empty, so it wasn’t like they were making mistakes due to being packed. We did enjoy the stay to a point, it’s just little things that could easily made it so much better. We did think as we had been in touch with the hotel on the phone and via email, and had paid a lot of money for the one night in said room, and that it was a special occasion, that they may have added a small touch to our room, but nothing. We realise it’s more extra charges for such things, but a little gesture would have gone a long way. We have stayed in 3 stars before and had more perks. It’s a good hotel, and we realised it was family friendly before booking, which we have no issues with at all, it’s just the large groups who want to go out clubbing and boozing all night. Which wouldn’t have affected us if we hadn’t been saddled with them opposite us. So sadly not the stay we were so excited for.

Loved this hotel, probably the first hotel I’ve been too where they mostly cater for kids. Came here with my young boy and he loved the soft play and the ability to run around care free. They put on a great Easter egg hunt, had a balloon artist, and also did milk and cookies for the kids on a night time, free of charge which most other hotels would have charged you. The room was really nice, clean, tidy and lots of tea and coffee. There was a cinema room with kids films on too which we didn’t use but looked great when I poked my head in. There was an indoor pool to use too, which had a Sauna and hot tub, all clean and tidy. The cocktail bar was really nice too as it felt like you were somewhere swanky inside which was a nice surprise as we didn’t no it was there. The drinks prices were probably what surprised me the most, £5.80 a pint of Poretti, would easily pay more than that in a pub let alone a hotel, so was happy to drink in the hotel, think this is a good move as if the price was higher we probably wouldn’t have spent half as much there. The staff were fantastic too, all happy and helpful and a credit to the hotel, everyone we spoke to all did so with a smile on their face. My only 2 negatives for this hotel was the pillows were so thin they nearly blew out the window , even with 2 together it was like sleeping on an envelope! Also the food menu wasn’t great, everything that came out looked nice but even between 4 adults we couldn’t pick anything we really wanted, annoying as we especially wanted to eat but for the prices couldn’t justify fish and chips or a burger, it was very very sp****.

Went as a family with 2 small children. This is clearly a hotel for families. I’d avoid if wanting a quiet, serene experience as a couple… But for us it was great. Staff friendly and attentive. Large rooms and smart downstairs. Fabulous entertainment schedule for kids. Lovely pool and sauna. The view from the restaurant is amazing. Cinema room lovely and perfect for kids. 5 mins walk from the beach down a steep path. Things to improve if I had to nitpick: Breakfast was included in our nightly rate but ISNT worth the £25pp they charge if it isn’t included… Very plain, unseasoned hot food. Nice pastries though. Hot tub and pool need a deep professional clean just to get rid of a little build up on the walls of the pool. Car parking is very tight and £15per day for a reserved and guaranteed space. Most aggravatingly, we agreed to a £10per night charge for a cot as we thought it would be nice for the baby to have a proper cot and mattress instead of the travel cot.. to find a travel cot with some folded mattress toppers as a mattress when we arrived! Really disappointed with this. If it wasn’t for the cot and poor hot food at breakfast, id have given 5*. That being said, we had a nice time and will probably return if coming back to the area.

We have stayed in 3 different rooms and each one has been welcoming, clean, warm with lovely cosy beds. The staff couldn’t do enough for you. We have always found them to be so helpful, but not intrusive. The hotel is in such a lovely position overlooking Fistral beach, in walking distance of the town. There is a bus you can get from almost outside the hotel. We will be going back because it’s great for long weekends when you just want to chill out or if you want longer to do some sightseeing.

Absolutely disgrace to be charging that much money for an horrible experience. When going to check in, they were trying to get more money out of us that wasnt actually needed which resulted us in cancelling the night. A waitress sat me and my husband and could CLEARLY see we had our dogs on leads, sat us in the restaurant, we went up to get our drinks and saw someone sat in our seat, the waitress asked this couple to move and let us sit back down. After we sat back down she then rudely stated we shouldn’t even be sat here due to having dogs. After sending an email of complaint about our stay, we were told that this isn’t true and making us out to be liars!! The email we received back was rude and unprofessional.

Bought for a Xmas gift for my daughter and son in law . On check in was advised to pay an extra £50 holding fee this was not advised at time of booking ! booked for breskfast following morning showed up with there two dogs and shown to a table went to go and get food on return someone else had been sat at there table - spoke to waitress who asked them to move shortly after this they were then shown to the lounge where they had to eat there breakfast as had dogs ! No one said anything when originally sat to table . Room was extremely hot 🥵 Telephone didn’t work Total experience was dreadful couldn’t wait to check out and leave never to return . Have emailed hotel but not much response back from this . Definitely not worth the money that they charged for one night parking and extra for two dogs !!
