Myself, my partner and my daughter came to visit the beresford as part of a caledonian trip. When it was first booked I called and asked for a sea room view and they said there are no family rooms with sea views but when we arrived we were very happy that we got one. My daughter had her own single room coming off the main which she loved. The room appeared to be clean and tidy just small but couldn't really complain. Would of been nicer to have one slightly larger due to the amount of days however as we had the extra room for my daughter that was the comprise. We were rushed off the coach as we arrived at 18:25 and told we had to be down for dinner at 18:30. That didn't happen as we had to get our keys (this was easily done the staff were prepared to just take our names off paper and pass the key straight over) however the lift was so small. It said it fit 4 adults. But as a family of 3 with 3 suitcases. My partner had to walk up the stairs as we didnt fit. So the queue for the lift took ages. The decor is very outdated on the hallways and landing. Paint jobs weren't finished. It looks as though someone painted and they just left the bits they couldn't reach. Door frames were battered and doors weren't cut to size properly. We had to go the restaurant quickly where they was a menu. We had a choice of 4 starters mains and deserts. There was no (kids) menu or options for children. The staff said they didn't know a child was coming. After explaining things that my daughter ate they were very accommodating and went to cook something different for her. The food on the menu wasn't great. It seemd like a great menu at first but the quality was poor. 4 nights in total we were there and the first night we ate the food but wasn't impressed. The 2nd night we picked at the menu we didn't like any of it really (the fish and chips was ok) the third night we ordered again and my partner ordered the cheese pasta and it was cold inside when the girl came to take the plate away he said the pasta was cold inside she just said ok what do you want for desert? So the first 2 nights my daughter was asked and accommodated for but we weren't given an option on the third but there was things on the menu that night she would eat. The fourth night we decided to eat out as we weren't happy with the menu when we had to choose it at breakfast. You are given a sheet with the menu on which you had to choose for that night. The breakfast was very standard. Not a lot of option. Hot plates of sausage, hash browns, bacon and something that is supposed to be scrambled egg. The toaster has 5 slots and you have to choose the setting. It either burns or takes ages to brown. There was an option for cornflakes, branflakes or muesli. A yoghurt option in one big bowl, no individual flavours and a ready made fruit salad. There was also 2 options of pastry. The tea and coffee were already in premade pots. You also had to wait a long time for everything to be refilled as we seemed to get there
