A private family run hotel and you could understand why it is so good. The staff were interested and very helpful, attentive at all times and creating a really friendly vibe. First time at the hotel and will recommend it !

Beautiful boutique hotel in a fabulous building. Staff were exceptionally polite, helpful & well trained. Food was excellent evening meal and breakfast. We used the Spa facilities which were as good as any we’ve been to. Will come back when working this way in the next few weeks.

This hotel is exceptional. Found it on TripAdvisor when looking to stay just off the main road past Exeter going south west. It is a very friendly hotel where the staff really make you feel at home. I walked around some of the grounds on manicured lawns and abundant pond life. I just wished we planned a few more nights there. We will return - thanks team.

We stay in top hotels all around the world and this stands out. Highly recommend, exceptional staff, so comfortable, delicious food and a beautiful spa.

The establishment is very well run by a team of friendly, kind, helpful and caring staff. The spa is a place you can easily spend a couple of hours relaxing and using the first class facilities. We had a pre-dinner drink in the lounge mulling over the menu before being shown into the dining room for a very lovely meal.
We would certainly recommend it and hope to return in the future.

I love this hotel. It is small enough to provide a personal experience but big enough to have wonderful grounds and spa and a great kitchen.. The staff are amazing (mostly local) and the rooms comfortable and traditionally decorated. It clearly has a loyal following and I hope it never changes!!

The restaurant is outstanding. I would visit again just to eat here. Location is really good. Lots of nice walks to do. Would have 5 stars except spa wasn’t warm enough and poor selection of alcohol free drinks.

Really enjoyed our stay. Very nice and capable personnel. Good restaurant and good food. As we don't travel that much in the UK we might never be able to return. But, we'll tell our friends about Ilsington

Lovely hotel in a great setting, staff very helpful and friendly, food out of this world. Super views of Dartmoor, over the hotel grounds.
