Hotels Near Grand Canal in Nijmegen

Prima hotel! Badkamer was alleen niet heel schoon en er ontbraken war handige dingetjes zoals koffiemokken en een haakje voor je handdoek in de badkamer.

Hotel is very well located at the end of the hippe shopping street where also many restaurants are located, near the Great Market, Waal Kade, Kronenburger park. Our room was apparently in renovation because there was an intrusive paint smell and paint traces on the bathroom floor which were not yet removed. TV must be connected and reinstalled. For some, perhaps details, but should be in order.

The Hotel Van der Valk Nijmegen-Lent is quite simply outstanding! We travelled from Wales, UK, and this is the sixth year that we have stayed at the hotel during the period of the Vierdaagse 4-day Nijmegen Marches (second to third week of July). The hotel offers first class accommodation and service. The restaurant and bar are spacious and comfortable, and offer an excellent service and wide selection of food and drinks throughout the day and evening. Decor throughout is elegant. The hotel is located close to the city and is easily accessible by road and rail. It has a large integral multi-storey car park with free parking, and covered, direct and easy access to the hotel. It lies adjacent to the Nijmegen-Lent railway station, with frequent trains and a four minute journey into the central station and city of Nijmegen. We run out of superlatives in praise of the hotel staff! From Marije the Director and Marijn the Marketing and Communications Manager, to the reception, restaurant, Lola’s Bar and housekeeping staff, who are all just wonderful, courteous, helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Communications throughout the booking, main stay and departure process were efficient and well coordinated. In our experience as international travellers of many years, the staff offer a wonderful, warm and personalised touch to your stay and are a credit to the hotel and the wider Van der Valk group. Very well done Hotel Van der Valk Nijmegen-Lent: 10/10 from us.

Just had a drink and pre dinner snack. Ordered a small borrel snack of charcuterie with cheese nuts and olives. It was a generous portion between us filling enough to not need much dinner when we arrived home in Lent. Friendly attentive personnel and plenty of them. We sat with our dog on the terrace which overlooks a luscious green field. We felt very welcome.

Just a short (thankfully downhill) walk from the railway station (extensive rail and bus services give easy access to almost anywhere in the Netherlands) the hotel is an even shorter walk from the north bank of the Nederrijn with its shady walks and numerous restaurants. Very handy as there is no restaurant at any IHG Express. As I arrived mid-morning the room was not ready but the staff (more about them later) were happy to store my case until I returned that afternoon (and again after checkout before leaving on an afternoon train). The room itself was a good size with a large comfortable bed, a functional desk and chair and a comfortable chair. Air conditioning kept the temperature stable and the lighting was good - not the ”fashionable” near darkness of some. Bathroom was good with a spacious shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. Coffee and tea available. Breakfast is the only meal offered and is a fairly basic standard european offering. Meats, eggs and cheeses were adequate, yoghurt good, fresh fruit salad very good indeed. Coffee was machine provided and good with a variety of offerings. No hot options (standard with the Express brand) and I did not try any of the other cold choices. Although fairly centrally located with easy access to shops and all the usual facilities and infrastructure the room was quiet and peaceful. An Albert Heijn mini-supermarket opposite attracted small groups in the evening but was not a bother - indeed very useful for an occasional small purchase. All standard and as expected for the brand so why mark it excellent? I will come back to the staff who were unfailingly excellent - helpful, cheery and friendly (though never less than professional) and recognised me by the end of day 1. A credit to the hotel and its management. This is now my first choice when next in the vicinity

The hotel is located directly opposite the Arnhem Railway Station, and it is especially convenient to travel to other places. There are many restaurants, bakeries, famous food supermarkets in the Netherlands along the street downstairs, so life is also quite convenient. By the way, if you arrive at Arnhem by train for the first time, remember to go out to the underground floor. The two of us stupidly picked up our luggage and chose to take the elevator up and out of the station. As a result, we looked at the train station and the hotel. We walked around a big circle and actually went down the station. Go to the train station gate, the hotel is 100 meters from the gate If the hotel of the same grade is in Amsterdam, the price will be more than double. We consider working near Arnhem the next day, so we still choose to stay in Arnhem. The money saved is used for transportation and more than enough to eat a big meal. If you go to Amsterdam, take the train to Amsterdam Central Station in 1 hour, and there is a corresponding train to Schiphol Airport. The breakfast at the hotel was very delicious and the mattress was very comfortable... Overall, we were quite satisfied.

High-end hotel. The room is large and the facilities are new and the living is very comfortable. The front desk is very good. Because there are various activities in the hotel from time to time, there are more people coming and going. I don't know why the room suddenly broadcast loudly in the early morning of the middle of the night, we can't understand it, broadcast three times. Parking for in-house guests is free.
