Camari Garden Hotel Apartments

Our first time here and it won't be our last! What a fantastic time we had. The family and staff are so welcoming and friendly. The whole place has a relaxed friendly vibe and we made lots of new friends. The food and wine in the hotel is great and we ate there most of the time. Rooms and outside are all spotlessly clean. The only negative for me is that the mattresses are very hard but I did sleep ok. Gerarni is a pretty little village and well worth the walk up the hill. The local beach is lovely too. Rethymno is also well worth a visit. Such a pretty city. If you wanted to explore more you probably need a car but it's so relaxing here that going any further didn't really appeal to us. Highly recommend.

Just returned from our visit. The staff are welcoming and friendly,but we found the facilies very basic and boring. Very glad that we hired a car from the airport and the location is great for exploring other areas and we were able to enjoy Crete's lovely places. Parking is near and free and the location is clean. We were disspointed that we didn t find basic things that any 3 star accomodation would have such as liquid soap /shower gel/shampoo,so we had to go shopping on the 1st day. We weren't intending to eat at Camari ,so we had to buy basics again such as sponge detergent,cups,etc .However,we did eat there a few times and the food was OK,but the best thing I would say is the proximity to Taverna Staras,highly recommend that to try! The pools were lovely and clean,but very boring ,so we stayed out every day,as no music/entertainment the whole stay. We would not stay here again,because is for elderly on my opinion,but if you prefer a super quiet location,then this is it!

Just returned from our first visit. Nick, George and the staff are welcoming and friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. We hired a car from the airport and the location is great for exploring with Rethymno a very short drive away. We weren't intending to eat at Camari but after deciding to eat there on our first evening we had dinner there a few more times. The food was delicious. We also took advantage of their buffet breakfast which at €9pp was a bargain and filled us up for the day. My daughter spent most of her afternoons in the pools which were lovely and clean. We would not hesitate to stay here again!

Another great 2 weeks at Camari. As always thanks to all the staff for making our holiday that bit extra special again, they all go out of the way to make your holiday an "UNBELIEVABLE" experience. A special mention to some guests who also contributed to our holiday pleasure, in no particular order, Mark with his unusual alternate outlook on life which made me smile, and thanks for the book, and his lovely wife Katerina who has to live with him :＞) ..... Graham and his buddies and Grahams "concerts: on a few nights with his virtuoso guitar playing. Helen and Ray (DAVE ) who we dragged to a day out that turned into a bit of an adventure. Also to Lorraine and her hubby and son who we talked to for two days before realising who your mum and dad where. Overall a great crowd of fun people and great staff make a visit to Camari a great holiday where you will be welcomed with open arms by both staff and guests. Missing you all already. Already booked again for next May / June but hope to get back in September but my nephew is getting married right in the middle of our usual dates. Lots of love to all... Henry and Lynne.

What a lovely place to stay. This is a family run business and what a lovely family, we were made to feel very welcome and treated like friends. The apartment was cleaned every day with clean sheets and towels every three days. The food was amazing and the service and presentation was the best, this was followed by rakl or as we were told, fire water. We can't recommend Camari Gardens enough and we will definitely be going back.

My family, Lucy, Lena, Freddie, Ronny, John, Allelujah, and myself had a fantastic time. Ronny and I agreed, ‘best raki ever’! The food was always delicious and great value. All of the staff were very friendly especially Nikos, Manolis, George, Fortini, Thespina, and Georgia, but not forgetting the often unseen staff who prepared the food/worked reception/ran the on-site shop (which was very handy for essentials). We visited Rethymon a few times and it was very nice, but to be honest there’s not really any need to leave the complex if you’re looking for a relaxing holiday. Love to all the staff, looking forward to returning Sept 2024.

I was tempted to leave a bad review so that others wouldn’t find this little treasure. Amazing family run establishment. The staff are very attentive and will do anything to help you. The accommodation is as described, comfortable and well equipped. All of the facilities are well maintained and clean. We had a wonderful trip with family, there were 7 of us and we were very well looked after. The bar is fully stocked and we managed to sample the majority of the menu. All of the food was very tasty and good quality with reasonable prices. There is a ten minute walk into the traditional Cretan village of Gerani, very friendly locals. A few bars, restaurants, bakery, local supermarket, pharmacy and more. We ate out in Staras a number of times, make sure you are hungry, the portions sizes are big. Again, the all of the food was amazing. The staff made our stay even better, we couldn’t have asked for more. It’s easy to get into Rethymno via bus which you can get across the road from the apartments. You can also then get to Chania and Heraklion and further afield with the buses. Our group had plenty of days out and even managed the Samaria Gorge hike (make sure you are fit for it before embarking!!) We will definitely be back and a huge thank you to all of the staff that looked after us during our stay, you made our trip even more memorable.

Camari Gardens is a small complex of apartments and studios in a great location, very clean and well kept with onsite bar and restaurant and 2 large pools. The rooms are spacious and very clean, the beds are quite hard (ask for a mattress from the camp beds to use as a topper and makes it much better), there are clean white linens, good pillows, extra thick blankets and free air con. Would of liked a toaster, there is toastie maker, kettle and 2 ring electric cooker. The staff are fantastic and really make the place. All the food we had from the restaurant was delicious, the chicken skewer portion and garlic bread in particular were the best we had while in Greece. Lots of cute cats hanging around, all very friendly. There is a griffon vulture that flies along the mountains and over the area quite often and mountain goats opposite too. There are 2 pools, both kept very clean but quite cold when we were there in October. Small cove and beach just down the hill, great for snorkelling, no sunbeds but glorious waters and only frequented by the locals and there is a lovely little Chapel and 2 tavernas (they close mid October). Rethymnon old town is just gorgeous and is 10-15 mins by car, Petres beach was our favourite 7 mins away, Lake Kournas 15 mins - lots to see and do if you hire a car, though there are buses. It is quite isolated otherwise and not much you can walk to, unless you are incredibly fit. Up the hill (quite strenuous in the heat) is a little village, Gerani, which has a supermarket, bakery with all sorts of yummy treats (try the granola/flapjack thing) and Staras restaurant (stunning, please go and see). Would 100% return in the future.

Just read a bad review of this hotel. I have been going here every May ,apart from covid for 10 years. To my regret I haven't reviewed it. It is ideal,typical Greece. No frills just a great location,great staff and excellent food. All at reasonable prices and lots of banter and smiles. See you again next May. Try it you will relax and chill.
