My wife found a website clearly listing afternoon tea at £21.50 per couple plus £4.50 extra per person if you wanted a glass of Prosecco. Google directed us to sister hotel next door (Luccombe Hall), which is actually where tea is served for both and who shares the same direct contact number. After a long wait whilst she was dealing with another customer, the dark haired middle aged lady on the desk checked and confirmed our booking and took us to our table. Food was lovely, no complaints there. Then given a bill of £80 when it should have been £52 (two of us had Prosecco so 2 x £21.50 + 2 × £4.50). Showed server and lady on desk web price. She then said we were at the wrong hotel, should have gone next door, even though they would re-direct us to be served here (!), and suggested the web price I showed her was untrue, as if I had created this web page myself! I showed her it was live, it was the price we booked, but she insisted the bill was correct and the Manager for both hotels had apparently told her the same! I took screenshot of web price attached. We insisted on them honouring online price. She said she would speak to Manager again. 20 minutes later, we were still waiting. Paid the £52 and left. Shocking service! Treated as if we were liars. This was our American friends first taste of English Afternoon Tea and left a very sour taste. Funnily enough, they have now changed the web page so both hotels now charge the same price (the higher one, of course....) for Afternoon Tea! Avoid.
