This was our first accommodation for the Gulflander/Savannahlander train tour. From the moment we walked in, we were a little worried. Firstly, the site looked a mess, secondly they didn’t have our booking. There were three of us in this situation. We’re still not sure sure why this happened. Anyway, rooms were sorted out. There was an apology that they had been shut for two years due to Covid (this was an cordoned off town), but there were still works being undertaken. Some rooms had two a/c, but the remote control worked on neither. Some had holes where the old ones had been taken out. We were in 39 degrees and needed the a/c. The rooms were of the older style type of hotel and looked like they had been redecorated recently, however the paint job was all black, including the ceiling, which made it very oppressive and dark. In our room the light shade had been taken off to allow more light and there were still broken pieces of lamp left in our cupboards. We were missing the shower mat too, which made getting out of the shower slippery. The pool was nice, but could have been a little cleaner. The restaurant was fine and the food was good buffet type food, however, having left over junk where you walked in to get the food was a little disconcerting. This could be so much better than what it was. I hope things have now got back into the swing of things and all the renovations and ground tidying has been done.
