The Royal & Fortescue Hotel

No window can be opened in my single room.the sink and bath tube .s water get very slowly away

Struggled to get in and out of Bath would have preferred a shower curtain than a glass screen nearly slipped over. All in all pleasant stay. Apart from people blocking the doorway when we wanted to get into doorway to get to our room, this was early hours of a Sunday morning

Recently stayed for one night for work purposes. The hotel is literally in the centre of Barnstaple (which requires it's own 1 star review). The hotel has its own 2 car parks which are quite hard to find and only accessible if you drive a Fiat 500 or a moped. Initially it was promising, the reception areas and bar/lounge presented clean and modern. That's where it ended.... the corridors are dated with stained carpets and a damp, fousty odour. The room was dated, mould in the bathroom and filthy carpets. The room stunk but having the window open meant listening to the locals leaving the pub next door in a not so quiet manner. The restaurant on site in contrast was beautiful, amazing service, food came quickly and setting lovely. Albeit a bit pricey for one course and a small glass of wine at £29. Hotel is very noisy, the creaky corridor floorboards don't help but people walking around late at night and from 5am. Appreciate this is a 3 star hotel so possibly this is to be expected but the room really let's the hotel down. The TV for example is next to the window, you can't even see it from the bed?! I travel on a weekly basis for work and stay in a lot of hotels and I've stayed in premier inns better than here. For me, not starting breakfast until 730am is a pain, most places start from 630am or 7am. On a positive all staff have been lovely that I've encountered.

Comfortable stay, 5/5 on everything about our stay aside from noise levels at night during the summer solstice. Friendly super helpful staff.

A historic building in the center of town. Very pleasant staff and a nice bar. The room was hot and window too noisy to open due to extractors underneath. Breakfast was a good selection but the hot food was over cooked and dried up with very weak coffee.

Could not do enough for me and my guests for our wedding. The red carpet on entry was an extra special touch. Howard behind the bar was very friendly and funny

Just so dated. Staff need extra training. Attention to detail is important. Leeks from showers were also a issue

Lovely hotel in a great location excellent spacious well appointed room, restaurant very good.

The hotel is truly beautiful. Staff very friendly n efficient. Requested early check in with no problems as had understand 4 start. Only issue was room very very warm-air conditioning unit in the room- however very noisy & prevented sleep, therefore utilised very little, consequently little sleep had. C not fault anything else, centrally located n truly beautiful time had with family. Guess just one of those things unfortunately.
