Freigeist Göttingen Innenstadt, A Member of Design Hotels

Hotel Freigeist is een heerlijk modern en sfeervol hotel waar we met veel plezier hebben verbleven. Het personeel was ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam, wat zorgde voor een warm welkom vanaf het eerste moment. De vibe in het hotel is gemoedelijk en toegankelijk, waardoor we ons meteen op ons gemak voelden. Onze kamer was licht en modern ingericht, met een fantastisch comfortabel bed en een mooi uitzicht op de stad. Een perfecte plek om even helemaal tot rust te komen na een dag vol activiteiten. Ook de locatie van het hotel is ideaal: centraal gelegen, waardoor alles binnen handbereik is. Al met al een zeer aangenaam verblijf en absoluut een aanrader voor wie op zoek is naar een combinatie van stijl, comfort en gastvrijheid!

Ich war nun bereits zum zweiten Mal in diesem modernen und absolut empfehlenswerten Hotel. Es liegt günstig neben dem Göttinger Bahnhof, und auch die Innenstadt ist zu Fuß in wenigen Minuten erreicht. Ich hatte um ein Zimmer zum Innenhof gebeten, da das Hotel an einer vielbefahrenen Straßenkreuzung liegt. Der Raum war dann auch ruhig genug gelegenen, um bei offenem Fenster schlafen zu können, wenn auch vom Bahnhof eine gewisse Geräuschkulisse herüberschallte. Mein Zimmer war hell, ausreichend groß, schick designt mit zarten Retro-Andeutungen (insbesondere der Kleiderschrank in Form eines Sechziger-Jahre-Kühlschranks gefiel mir) und absolut sauber. Die Matratze war allerdings für meinen Geschmack etwas zu weich. Eine Schreibgelegenheit ist nicht vorhanden, dafür aber ein niedriger Glastisch mit einem bequemen Sessel. Das Badezimmer ebenfalls stylish-modern. Große Dusche mit gutem Wasserdruck, kraftvoller Föhn, wohlriechendes Duschgel. Frühstück in einem schön gestalteten Raum im Erdgeschoss. Alles in dieser Kategorie normalerweise zu Erwartende ist vorhanden, appetitlich präsentiert und von guter Qualität. Echte Highlights waren am Buffet jedoch nicht zu finden. Das Personal beim Ein- und Auschecken eher unpersönlich und wenig interessiert wirkend, beim Frühstück hingegen zugewandt und zuvorkommend. Dass man als Gast ungefragt geduzt wird, was wohl „cool“ erscheinen soll, am Ende aber etwas aufgesetzt und nicht immer passend wirkt, muss man nicht mögen.

The room is spacious with open coat hangers, the closet is there but disguised as a fridge. Inside there are a few glasses and a safe. Unfortunately the device for heating water which would be so useful when you wake up is missing. The bed is large and very comfortable, the bathroom has a very large shower and is stocked with quality soaps. On the ground floor there is a large and cozy bar with lots of plants and the quality Japanese/Peruvian fusion restaurant. Price in line with the quality of the hotel.

Room 507. The room is clean and bright. The room has a lot of wood (the floor and the high headboard of the bed are particularly beautiful) and an unobtrusive choice of colors, making the room feel warm and exuding a feel-good atmosphere. The wonderful panoramic view of the center of Göttingen from the floor-to-ceiling windows is unbeatable. These close so that it is absolutely quiet, and even with the window open, the main road in front of the hotel is still bearable (writes someone who is very sensitive to noise and is a light sleeper). The staff at reception and in the breakfast room are mostly friendly. I found it particularly generous that all of my wishes were met from the start and without any problems: a room with a beautiful view of the city and, due to my train times, both an early check-in and a late check-out. The breakfast buffet offers a wide range of foods, which is particularly pleasing for someone like me who doesn't help himself to the cold cuts or cheese platter, but does value a colorful and healthy breakfast. The in-house ginger shot is particularly worth mentioning for me. The price of breakfast is certainly debatable. Compared to other hotels with similar offerings, it is high. Ultimately, that didn't bother me because the overall package is absolutely perfect and I find the room price pleasantly modest for this quality and top location (the train station and the center are just a few minutes' walk away). All in all: next time Göttingen = FREIgeist = intelligent decision!
