We travelled to the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit as a couple to celebrate my 50th birthday and also our upcoming wedding anniversary. From the moment we stepped into the lobby we were greeted by a representative of the Spa who gave us a relaxing neck and shoulder massage while we waited for our check-in to begin. We didn't even have to get up from our lobby lounge chairs for check in, and before we knew it, we were speaking to Mario, our concierge, who immediately asked if we were celebrating anything special and also booked us the first few nights of dinner reservations. SERVICE The service from the second you set foot on the property is wonderful. Most staff greeted us with a smile and a friendly exchange of pleasantries. There were only a handful of times when we encountered some straight faced workers at the buffet restaurant or around the pool, but most staff were very pleasant and inviting, so the good definitely outweighed the bad here. Hosts/hostesses and wait staff at all the a la carte restaurants always had a smile and friendly conversations. Any questions we had were always answered kindly & promptly. CLEANLINESS The grounds of the resort are impeccably clean along with all the public washrooms. You always see someone cleaning an area but it's not unsightly, invasive or noisy. The turndown service was really nice. However, I hate to say this next thing, but for a luxury resort, our room was not cleaned that well daily. I saw the same scuffs and water stains on the floor from day one til the last day, assuming they didn't pass a broom or mop once the entire time. The day after dinner room service, after they cleaned, I still saw crumbs on the rug and table. The bathrooms were definitely not cleaned daily aside from emptying the trash and changing towels. The shower still had hair and soap suds left behind making it super slippery and I almost fell twice. Robes and towels were left in tub to be taken away, which they were, but not fully replaced so I had to write a note for next day to get 2 more robes. Sinks were left dirty. I have never experienced this at any other resort of even lesser star ratings, so it was a little off putting for a hotel of this calibre and price point. VIBE The overall vibe is calm, quiet, and tranquil. The colour pallet of the decor and structures are neutral, natural, organic, rustic and light, lending to its very loungy and relaxed a**osphere. This is not an upbeat resort, so if you're looking for action, even in the slightest, it's not here. It's very very chilled out and quaint. For the most part, due to it being low season, there was nobody really walking around after 10pm. The lobby band that played nightly was packed up and gone by then too. Hubby and I were the only 2 people watching/listening one night. They were great, so I found it odd that no one hung around a little to enjoy them. When some large groups arrived, there was a bit more foot traffic around, but nothing loud or anything. Aside from
