Be careful when booking this hotel. If they request prepayment you need to be aware that they apply outrageous policies and refuse to change the dates of the bookings in case of what they call long weekends and black-out dates. We had booked for the long Vesak weekend but because of extreme weather in Sri Lanka access roads to Nuwara Eliya were closed or too dangerous to travel (landslides), so we had to change our planning. Still this Grand Hotel refused to change the dates of our booking, let alone refund of course. Scams are everywhere in Sri Lanka but hotels should not be part of this.
