Glücklicherweise konnten wir einen öffentlichen Parkplatz direkt vor dem Hotel ergattern und der Parkuhr eine 24-Stunden-Buchung entlocken. Denn die schmale Einfahrt zur Hotelgarage sowie ein Parkliftsystem ist für unsere „Familienkutsche“ ungeeignet (Erfahrungswerte!). Verständigung mit dem Rezeptionspersonal recht „holprig“ mangels ausreichend guter Deutschkenntnisse von deren Seite. Eine an uns übergebene Zugangskarte für Zimmer und Hotelaußentür (ab definierte Abenduhrzeit einzige Möglichkeit ins Gebäude zu gelangen) war nicht freigeschaltet. Zimmer war für unsere „Ansprüche“ gut (erstaunlich für diese Hotelkategorie -＞ Kühlschrank für die Kühlung selbst mitzubringender Dinge vorhanden) Frühstück: Quark für Musli habe ich vermisst und leider nur die stark zuckerhaltigen Fertigcerealien vorgefunden. Ergo lieber gleich verzichtet. Weil mir der Meerrettich bzw. die Meerrettichsahne nicht zu den anderen Lebensmitteln passend schien habe ich nachgefragt, wozu dieser gedacht sei… Mit dem Wort Meerrettich konnte der „Frühstücksservice“ nichts angefangen. Also habe ich gefragt, ob diese „Zutat“ für „salmon“ gedacht sei. Daraufhin wurde mir erklärt, dass der Lachs aus sei (ca. 9:30 / gefrühstückt wird wohl im „Schichtsystem“, nachdem wir bei Anreise gefragt wurden, in welchem „Zeitfenster“ wir zu frühstücken besnsichtigen). Sehr irritierend - wir konnten nämlich unmittelbar zuvor direkt beobachten, wie eine nich halb volle Platte mit Lachsaufschnitt in die Küche getragen worden war. Wollte sich das Personal für‘s eigene Frühstück (auch das hatten wir beobachten können) diese Leckerei exklusiv „sichern“?

Goed hotel voor de prijs. Schoonmaak kan iets beter; het ziet er allemaal schoon uit maar in de hoeken en kieren (bijv. onder de schuifdeur in de badkamer) zat nog stof. Bed lag goed, kamer is klein maar zeer praktisch ingericht. Badkamer is ruim en modern, maar het toilet zit voor mijn gevoel op een vreemde plek. Geen gebruik gemaakt van het ontbijt, in de stad zelf zijn ook voldoende opties. Zeer vriendelijke man achter de receptie, dat mag wel even vermeld worden.

Check in was a lengthy affair, took absolutely ages, there was a guy waiting to pay for a couple of bottles of water from the fridge, I swear the water had gone warm by the time he got chance to pay for them!!! I had read a previous review about the staff and have got to say that one of the girls doing the check in seemed pretty scary, our check in girl was reasonably pleasant but the other made you feel like you were checking into a police cell!!! Anyway, hotel must be quite old but modern looking and well maintained. Decent sized room, clean with mini fridge containing complimentary drinks such as Coca Cola, beer water and a couple of chocolates which was a nice touch, tea and coffee making in the room. The only thing that was a bit odd was that if you opted for no room service (which gave you a voucher for a free drink, which was pushed under your door) someone still entered your room to replenish the fridge. We were staying for 2 nights and opted for this because of the Covid situation. Has air con but really does not work that well, much more cool air coming through the open window, we had it on the coldest setting and highest fan speed and was pretty rubbish. Beds for us were a bit on the firm side and could have done with a topper pad. Nice bar area downstairs and the staff there were extremely friendly. Good parking in multi storey car park which serviced the hotel and I think a conference centre, get your ticket validated for slight discount. I gave a lower star rating only because of the the firm bed, scary staff and bad air conditioning, I am sure that all these things could easily be rectified.

Geographisch günstig gelegenes Haus am Ausgang des Brohltals und unweit von Maria Laach. Repräsentative äußere Anmutung, die jedoch schnell von den realen Gegebenheiten enttäuscht wird. Das Haus ist hoch frequentiert durch Gesellschaften, Hochzeiten etc., die eigentlichen Zimmertrakte befinden sich in den südlich gelegenen Wirtschaftsgebäuden um einen weiten Innenhof (s. angefügten Plan). Obschon es rechts vor dem Eingang ca. 12 Parkplätze gibt und über eine Außentreppe unterhalb des Schlosses nochmals ca. 20 Stellplätze ist die Parkplatzsituation ist immer schwierig und man muß im Wohngebiet einen Stellplatz suchen. Empfang und Service sind nicht befriedigend für die Kategorie. Das Komfortzimmer zwar sehr groß aber von gähnender Leere und trostlosen Ausblicken (s. angehängte Fotos). Das Frühstücksbuffet ist unterklassig, kaum Obst, kein Müsli, keine Körner, zwei Billigkäse, Industriecroissants etc. Obschon bis 10.30 Uhr (Sa./So bis 11 Uhr, dann aber ist der Frühstücksraum wirklich brechend voll) Frückstückszeit wird man regelmäßig ab 10.10 Uhr vom Personal bedrängt, ”ob man schon abtragen könne”, ob man ”schon lüften dürfe” und ”gleich kommt ja der Reiningungsdienst...”. Nein, das geht alles in diesem Preissegment einfach nicht.

Many positive things have already been said about this accommodation and we were generally enthusiastic about it as well. We were here in December and had two different rooms: one room on the ground floor with a very spacious (fairly new) bathroom and a smaller room on the first floor with a relatively old bathroom. The rooms are ok, but certainly not fantastic: quite dated and the water in the shower on the 1st floor did not drain properly. The mattresses were on the soft side. Early in the morning (if we remember correctly already at 6 o'clock!) the church bells started ringing and this is very noticeable if you sleep with the windows open. Perhaps something to bear in mind if you plan to come to this place in the summer, as there is obviously no air conditioning in the rooms. The location of the abbey/hotel is on the edge of (actually outside) Bendorf and is absolutely fantastic: quietly situated between the trees and hills and therefore a good starting point for various walks. In combination with the snow, this really felt like a fairy-tale. The breakfast room is also the check-in area and restaurant, a 5 / 10-minute walk from the abbey. The breakfast is luxurious and extensive and it is possible to order additional items such as extra bread or tea/coffee. We also had dinner here in the evening and the food was just as good. All in all: reasonable rooms, but above all a fantastic location with good breakfast and evening meals.

I spent two nights here on this non-business visit in this 4-star comfort hotel, in early June just after Covid restrictions loosened ( staff still wore masks and guests were encouraged to as well, few did). This was my third visit here, and my first after the major remodeling that was finished last year. I booked a top floor ”mini-suite” (311), ( because that was all that was available for my datesm chosen five weeks before) with two sections: an extremely comfortable large bed for two with a small closet, bible, and TV in one section (no split in the middle of the bed as most German beds have), and another section was a mini-sitting area with two chairs, small table, and a desk, and another wall TV ( with limited stations, even in German). There was also an espresso machine, and a tiny fridge with some drinks. The windowless bathroom had a large tub and a separate shower. Bathroom amenities included not just shampoo but also conditioner, body lotion, kleenex, a hair dryer, wash cloths and soap (all except shampoo are hard to find in hotels in the area, most of which are 3 or less stars, as is a room with fridge). Everything was very clean, and the hotel has an elevator (rare in this area), quite welcome at my age and with my heavy baggage. Internet worked. The hotel is located near the ancient Maria Laach abby and across the local road from the pretty vulcanic Laach lake, which offers easy walks around it. The area is also convenient for excursions to other vulcanic sights of interests, walking paths, and historic structures, and is a half hour from the raceway Nurburgring. There is an upscale restaurant offering a limited menu of international food at dinner, for both indoors and outdoors dining, with very good service and a decent wine list (regional and otherwise) , and a pleasant cafe in a separate building offering snacks, ice cream, and cake is nearby, also with indoor and outdoor options. The complex also includes a sculpture garden, nursery, and a shop. It is not directly on the lake, but across a small road, easy walk. Negatives are: 1. Despite the recent remodel, there was still no air conditioning in my room. I guess it is just not a priority. So, during the day, my top floor 'upscale' room, with the sun beating on it, and also facing the sun, was stuffy and sweltering inside ( measured by me at 78) it was only 72 F outside and humid (it would be much worse if it were any warmer). It did cool off at night with open windows, but with no window screens, flys, mosquitoes, and 1 wasp considered themselves welcome. With windows and blinds shut, an odd sewer smell emerged. 2. My room, with its steaming heat, slanted walls and just 1 small high window in each room, was as noted overall unwelcoming during the day.
